Of course with a PR system there would be roughly the same number of Liberal, SNP and conservative MPs in Scotland.

Just had a read of the coalition agreement. What's notable is this:

10. Civil liberties
The parties agree to implement a full programme of measures to reverse the substantial erosion of civil liberties under the Labour Government and roll back state intrusion. This will include:
- A Freedom or Great Repeal Bill.
- The scrapping of ID card scheme, the National Identity register, the next generation of biometric passports and the Contact Point Database.
- Outlawing the finger-printing of children at school without parental permission.
- The extension of the scope of the Freedom of Information Act to provide greater transparency.
- Adopting the protections of the Scottish model for the DNA database.
- The protection of historic freedoms through the defence of trial by jury.
- The restoration of rights to non-violent protest.
- The review of libel laws to protect freedom of speech.
- Safeguards against the misuse of anti-terrorism legislation.
- Further regulation of CCTV.
- Ending of storage of internet and email records without good reason.
- A new mechanism to prevent the proliferation of unnecessary new criminal offences.
Makes you realize how much this stuff changed under Labour in their rush to appease the US.

Maybe they should reinstate the right against self incrimination.

The Lib Dems got 29 seats, of which 11 were in Scotland.

I wonder how many seats they'd have got if the electorate knew that the first thing the Lib Dems would do is install David Cameron as PM?

If I were a Scottish Lib Dem MP, I'd start screwing my expenses for every last penny I could steal, because I don't imagine they'll be getting a very long ride on the gravy train.

They got more than 29 didn't they?

On they other hand if they had gone with a defeated labour government how would that have gone down with voters in England who most likely would have conservatives as their second choice. Vote liberal get Gordon?

I read yesterday that there is quite an even split between liberal MPs who would prefer to work with either labour, conservative or have no strong preference.

Although Scotland is usually characterised as a conservative free zone, in quite a few seats they are second to either liberals or SNP which is why their share of the popular vote in Scotland is not that different to the liberals and SNP, in spite of only getting one seat.

Nick Clegg makes me want to puke:thumbdown: I wonder how many illegal immigrants will be lining up to become Brit citizens now and not forgetting their numerous family members around the globe, come on in, plenty room at the inn!
