UK Elections

Anyone else sad enough to be listening / watching the live coverage of the election!

Theres some serious dramas unfolding - sit-ins/annoyed voters preventing the ballots boxes from leaving. Apparently turning voters away!

Whichever way you wish to vote - its the most heated election I've witnessed!

That's what happens when the Nations dissatisfaction with the standard of television programming attains such heights, attentions turns to politics...and something else to do come Thursday evening....:cool:

Re: UK Elections

Hahaha - ain't that the truth!

I say witness - I am watching it online - theres been some "extraordinary" happenings in Sunderland - apparently.

They ran out of ballot papers  and there were students turning up who didn't know where they lived - wreaking havoc! lol.

Its going to be a long night for them all back home lol glad I can just pop on and find out whats going on periodically.....without losing any sleep.

** Police now called to Polling Station in Maidstone!!!!

The conservatives are in waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Just before I go home....

The best thing they might do is clean up the Chavs stick them in the army, get them polishing boots and washing dishes.

I'm imagining great flaming hoodie pyres and Burberry cremations.

I was pleased to see the use of a pie chart in the election coverage. Its nice to see the BBC are finally responding to the needs of the viewer.

I'm loving the coverage on the BBC website. Last election you had to keep refreshing the page, but this time it's doing it all automatically. How technology changes.

Yes it's great being able to watch it all and not have to stay awake all night - still doesn't make me feel homesick though and no, I didn't vote.

Its lazy arse people waiting til 9.30 to go and vote and surprised that theres a queue. One woman said, i queued for over half and hour! Ooh poor you. Did you see S Africa and Iraq where they dodged car bombs to queue for hours?!!

Well, I must say how disgusted I am about people not being allowed to vote. This is Britain (note how I miss the 'great' off) and not some 3rd world country. I felt my blood boiling as I watched it last night seeing people not being able to cast a vote. Truly appalling.

Couldn't agree more...the polls were open from 07h00 until 22h00 and there were postal votes etc. If you're not in the building by 22h00 you are SOL as far as I am concerned.

Other than the idiots who ran out of polling cards, the rest who were unable to vote only have themselves to blame. The Polling Stations were open for 15 hours though the day and night. The option to vote via post was also there.

Again, here we have the media doing what it does best these days.

I watched it all on TV - quite enjoyed it actually. Though I'm not sure what the point of the BBC's celebrity boat was; even andrew neil looked like he wondered wtf he was doing there.

Still, I see calls to reform the way people vote etc because the system is 'clearly at breaking strain', maybe with the use of electronic voting etc. No, you idiots, just put enough people at the polling stations instead of assuming nobody is going to turn up.

I watched the Beeb'c coverage as they were conveniently streaming it all online with no thought to geographical restrictions. I similarly thought the celebrity party boat was pointless and far less amusing than Jeremy Vine's insertion into a bizarre election virtual reality world. The walking up and down the stairs at No 10 with various pictures of prime minsters past, was particularly funny. Oh yes, and it was refreshing to see just how abrasive Paxman can be, particularly when it's 3am and he is presumably running a sleep deficit!;)

And why the hell were they asking Joan Collins questions on political affairs? If I had paid my tv license, I'd be incandescent with rage.

I was surprised to find out she was still alive. Her reactionary ignorance was marginally less annoying than twats from the apprentice trying to sound like they were giving some kind of informed opinion.

Mrs AX asked: 'Why are they asking Joan Collins questions, what's she got to do with Britain or Politics?' It was a fair point I think.

The Alex Salmond interview was a good one. Somehow I don't think they make it on each others Chrismas Card list!

Really enjoyable to watch grumpy old Dimbleby and Paxman grilling people all night. I really miss good hard-nosed questions and journo's who don't buy the bullshit. You really don't see it here in Canada...ever. Journalists are far too polite and worried about offending people and have no personality. I forgot how much I'd missed watching politicians squirm. Politics is far more interesting and full of character in the UK than here, where it's just totally bland.

Had she lived in Luton do you think she'd have voted for Esther Ranzen? possibly not only just over 1000 did.

Paxman was rude and brilliant as usual!

Kirsty from Location Location was on Andrew Marr's boat saying as how she didn't want to take a job in government as 'too many people work there already' and slagging off civil servants.

Unlike posh aristo estate agents of course, who are a fine upstanding bunch of productive members of society.

And where was Phil?

Esther Ranzen is a wonderful lady, I'd have certainly voted for her in this election. If only she could be cloned so that there were 650 of her, one to stand for Parliament in every constituency in Britain. What a fantastic country Britain would be with 650 lovely Esthers at the helm. I'd certainly go back then.

Why exactly?

Dimbleby was half asleep when the programme started and fit to be euthanized after a couple of hours.

Jeremy whatisname was his usual boorish self, contributing nothing whatsoever.

You miss this???

I think the Andrew Marr boat load of "celebs" just shows what a "celebrity" fixated society the UK has become. Just one of the reasons I want out of here. If the boat had sank I wonder what would have been the headline the next day? Election or wet celebs!;)
