Obviously you are ignorant of more than Canadian traffic laws, Toll booths in the US are often unmanned with cameras fitted to record licence plates. If you dont have the right change you can pay later by post. This happened to us so we rang the number given to explain AND the hire company. The hire company said 'IF they come after you we MAY put it on your credit card is that ok'.

Oh dear, another thread gone to pot. It's so funny the way these things turn to personal insults.
From a moral point of view Seabass you should definately pay the fine, especially if you agree with the law.
From a logistical point of view there is very little chance anything will happen. I had a friend who worked in the traffic fine department (whatever it's called) here in Alberta and he would told me that the number of travellers here on 1 year visas etc that got fined and didn't pay them was large and the paperwork and manpower required to catch them all cost more than the actual fines themselves so they usually just cut their loses.
This isn't me condoning what you are thinking of doing, just stating the facts I know about. I was in France once and the hotel parking was full. The receptionist told me to just park in the timed parking space, not illegally and the traffic wardens would not bother writing a ticket cos they know theres no way to make you pay it, had I parked illegally they would have towed my car and I'd have to pay the fees to get it back. It worked too.
I heard a story on a forum about a group of lads who rented a camper van and drove down the west coast of the states, pulled up on the road wherever they wanted, slept in the van and put the parking tickets in the bin. Although they signed the part on the rental that said any parking tickets would be charged to their credit cards, they just cancelled the credit card when they got home.
Again, not condoning the actions just sharing experiences.

I'll let you know if I get slung into chokey! :-)

can I take it from number 6 that you would like me to use my engine retarder brake at all times, even when travelling up hill, while in BC?

We both realise after living here for a year it definately is not where we would want to live. If we were ever to emmigrate from the UK we would most likely go to NZ but I doubt we will leave the UK.
Just out of curisosity, a criminal record lasts 7 years in the uk before it is wiped. Anyone know how long an unpaid speeding fine lasts?

Surely this is the most pointless thread here for a long time
Im paraphrasing a bit, but its basically
OP asks What will happen if?
Actually I dont care what will happen if.
and I dont care what you all think.
FFS, Why bother. Lets just ignore the troll.
Its OK though, they are going to get a new passport and license, and Im sure the authorities will never link the old one to the new one

It's not that I don't care what will happen, it's that i don't think anything will happen and if it does then I'll pay the consequences. The thread was posted to see if anyone had had a simliar experience.

You dont realise its pointless until you read it
, I wish others would use the rating system.
It's not that I don't care what will happen
You seem to have short term memory problems as well as a dodgy moral compass.
I dont have any expectations for the canadian authorities, but it would be nice to think they will catch up with you. Just pay the fine already.
On the ignore list with you. Whatever happened to prodigyking I wonder?
