So its looking like I will be heading to Malta around end May until early July. Longer stay to spend more time over there and hopefully allow Canada some time to sort out the quarantine crap. And if not then gotta face the music and just do it. But we'll see how the situation changes by the end of may.

vaccine passports are coming, hopefully Canada won't be on the back foot again on this one.

I think by May or June they may have gotten to my age group down there so we will see. I may be coming back to Canada vaccinated. But with the current actions on the Canadian government's part I'm not expecting to be exempted from quarantine or anything like that even with a recent vaccine that actually does prove immunity for a certain period of time. One can be optimistic but I'm not hopeful.

Do you have a deadline you need to meet to keep your status?

Honest question as I have seen conflicting info, do the vaccines prevent those vaccinated from spreading it to those who are not?
If a vaccinated person can still spread it, I wouldn't hold my breath for relaxed rules until a good % of the population is vaccinated.

yesterday I heard that if vaccinated, the chances of you then spreading the virus is low...but they seem to change their minds every couple of days.

I think at times people are expecting a small pox situation where the virus goes away, but I don't think that is realistic at this point, and COVID will be with us for the foreseeable future like influenza is, and we may need to get boosters on a regular basis, who knows though.
Vaccines are not 100%, ask those in the BC care home who are sick and received both doses of vaccine weeks ago, luckily the vaccine did do its job in the sense they are not as ill and more mild illness.

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.
There's an interesting article on the BBC website about the potential to spread covid despite being vaccinated (with an example of a super spreader of mumps infecting 25 others in a single day, despite being fully vaccinated against it).. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/2...pread-covid-19
If it does afford any protection against spreading it (apparently you can still catch covid despite being vaccinated, but the symptoms will be fewer and less severe) I wonder how long the protection might last?

The vaccine while not stopping outbreaks in care homes in BC does seem to be slowing outbreaks down, and illness more mild, so that is a good thing.

It's for business reasons I need to be back tbh but if this carries on in might become a status issue!

By the way the government is going, I don't think that they will allow you to come back to Canada without quarantine, even if you're vaccinated. This will be regardless, if other countries allow this to happen.
The Canadian government is by far too much obsessed by the idea of quarantine, thus I should think this will go on for the whole year of 2021. If it's lifted by 2022, it's probably the optimistic thought.......

When we travelled last year we had a stopover at Toronto and then took another flight to our final destination where we self isolated for 2 weeks. If we returned under the current requirements do we have to stay 3 days in a Toronto quarantine hotel before the next leg of our flight.?
