Yes, but I am thinking it was done before any issue was raised (although the US person did the finger prints after raising the issue).

Isn't it the case, FL, that people still get refused after having the Iris scan and finger prints done? I'd be slightly p***** off having spent another approx C$20 on the ESTA, but more upset than anything.

This is like "True Confessions". I feel better at least having shared this!

Why embarrassed Snowy? I can't see why you should feel that way, irritated, yes.

FL: Will they update my GOES account (as they do for approvals) or simply send a refusal letter?

Thanks!

They will either send you an email notification or letter if refused. I can't see on what grounds you would be refused but GOES is located in Vermont USA. People still can have NEXUS but denied Global Entry and vice versa.

Thank you xx I haven't lied about anything or have anything going on that could exclude me that I could possibly think of. So we'll see ...

Yes, should be no problems :)

Update:

Things didn't go smoothly for me at the Nexus interview yesterday :(

I had my Iris scan done and had the finger prints but the US officer spent a long time discussing the fact that my PR card doesn't quite match my name on my passport as it is written. This is because my name on my PR card is truncated by one letter as for the old design there was a maximum of 15 letters/spaces for first/middle names and I have 16.
So my name on my passport appears as:

XXXXXXXXXX XXXXA XXXXX

and on my PR card/BC DL as above but with the A missing.

The officer said she would write the name as on my passport.
The she said she wanted me to get an ESTA. I could go to the computer terminal in the room; make another appointment to come back or withdraw my application. I applied for the ESTA which was approved and gave her the paper. She said I was good to go and would receive the card in two weeks. She gave me the leaflet about Nexus which we all got.

My husband and daughter went through minimal discussion.

They got update approval to the GOES account straightaway but I have had nothing. I feel bad because I have never been arrested, I have no criminal record and never have had one. I have never violated any customs rules etc and I feel like my honesty is being questioned but there isn't anything that seemed to be discussed except the "A" omitted from my PR card. I am on the system with CIC with my full name. I wrote things exactly as they were on the Nexus application (i.e. my full name but then for the PR card section of the form, the truncated version).

When will I hear? I assume I'll get a refusal through the GOES account.
Is it possible to call and ask for an update so that at least I know? :(

Snowy

Ack. :( That sucks... I found the US person a little snarky too on my end, was harping on about why do I need it because I don't go to the US often.

In the end - like alot of things - its CICs fault for truncating your name on the PR card !

I think you will get it though, :fingerscrossed: for you!!

Thanks Gozit!

No news.

I can't see what it could be except the truncation which is the only thing she really discussed with me and which she went on and on about (apart from asking stuff like have I ever violated customs' rules etc.). There's nothing I am hiding and I am racking my brains to think if there could be some reason but I know really there is nothing. But I'm now not hopeful. There is no update in my GOES account.

Meanwhile, husband and daughter wish desperately we had never applied. It was my bright idea which has gone a bit wrong as they haven't heard the end of it all weekend.

It's alright... It's not something you could have predicted when you applied... I agree, I don't see what else except the truncation... but surely this isn't the first case they've had? Lots of people have long names that CIC erroneously truncates on their PR cards. I don't know, i'd see if you can call and see. :fingerscrossed:

It takes several weeks to get a conditional approval after submitting the online application. Then you have to schedule the interview. After the interview, if approved, they say 7-10 days for the card to arrive.

Several? As in 8? Maybe more? Then the interview? So how long from beginning to end do you think ? I suppose we better get started if we want cards for next spring. I'd foolishly thought it was just an online application a la ESTA and the interview was for some but not all.
