The fish is still quite Canadian in its portion sizes but you've got to remember our geographical location! The chips are not as good as the best I've had in the UK but then again then are a damn site better than most chips I've had from chippys in the UK.

I had one piece and i thought it was a good size, i ate in though. The OH had a 2 piece and he ended up with 3 pieces of fish and couldnt finish it all.
I'm sure for someone who has been here only a short while the taste wont be so good - but for those who have been here longer it fills that gap

I hope the OP is on commission!
I'm going to have my final portion of fish & chips in the UK either tomorrow or Thursday - will be savouring the flavour!

They're definitly not on par with a UK chippy, but as good as you're gonna get here.

As for Sea, It's nice to know it's there but i wouldn't rush back.
Having said that, when i had Fish & Chips on a UK visit last May, it was a bit of a let down.
Maybe the passage of time has clouded my judgement!

With apologies to the mods as we've just posted similarly on another thread but any BE Calgary and surrounds based folk that fancy meeting up for a bite at the McKenzie Towne fish and chip shop, drop us a PM or an email.
A few of us are going this Saturday but if there is a wider interest from this thread, then we'll arrange something separate for a week or two down the line so that the restuarant can plan better.
Anyway, drop us a PM and we'll see where it goes.
Eamonn & Janet.

Definitely count us in Eamonn, only been here just under 3 weeks but Fish and Chips would go down a treat.
Can we bring friends as we have a couple of expat families that have landed here and I'm sure it would be a great introduction for meeting new people.
Excellent Idea.

We're now likely to arrange this for a few weeks out, perhaps looking at Saturday, February 28th, 2009 at 6pm (to make it easier for children to attend) so keep the names coming.
Kind regards,
Eamonn & Janet.

Went to Sea, in McKenzie Towne, today and I have to report that they have the finest and closest to real Chips in Alberta. I had Halibut and my OH had Haddock, huge portion of chips, nice side of real hand made coleslaw and really good crispy batter. Good range of fish and sea food on the menu and they do take out wrapped in newspaper. We ate in and had it all washed down with a good strong pot of Yorkshire Tea.
Highly recommended and would urge anyone expats in Calgary yearning for good old fish & chips to get down there if you haven't already.

Been in Midnapore since October 13th, we got takeaway from Sea last night, not the same (wasnt expecting exactly the same being in canada)nbut very very good, will definately be going back.

i cant get enough, so i think now that i've found Sea i'm going to have to ration myself
