The original shop is still there and they can be found in most Motorway service stations selling generic cardboard fish and chips........not good at all

Yep, cardboard powder dry chips at the motorway services churning out mass produced rubbish, under the franchisee name "Harry Ramsden."

This unfortunately did the real "Harry Ramsden's" no favours whatsoever!

Just been to Sea for lunch, 2nd vist, and the quality was top notch again. Also suggested that they add Battered Sausages, Mushy Peas & Curry Sauce to the menu

Up in the NW (since you need to make a day trip to get to the SE) Pelican Peir on 14th is not bad, the fish is definately worth it but the chips are standard N. American skinny things.

Anybody been to the Red Sea Fish and Chips in NW Calgary (4th Street).

It seems to have a couple of good reviews on the internet but you never know who has written them. Could be the owners!

We went there once...great fish and the chips are proper potato, although they are skinny fry size and not chip shop fat fries. They get their spuds from the Hutterites (they were in there having a free fish and chip supper after dropping off the sacks of spuds). Also do mushy peas and are open to suggestions. Very friendly and chatty too.

We went by Sea the other week on a Sunday so will be seeing you all there soon!

I went on a quick reccie to Calgary for 4 days early December and secured our rental property in McKenzie Towne for Feb 1st. I took a long walk around the High Street area of McKenzie Towne and loved it - its all modern and new in an old fashioned sense, loved the shops etc and was thrilled to see the Fish & Chip shop there too. I was on my own as hubby had to work and left kids with parents so they didnt miss any school so took a photo of the menu to show OH. He was thrilled we will be able to get that little piece of home on a Friday night for if we feel abit homesick and are missing a take-out night that Timmies cant quell!

I am hoping not to have too many homesick days but am sure as its local I'll frequent the fish shop regulary!

Good range of fish and sea food on the menu and they do take out wrapped in newspaper. We ate in and had it all washed down with a good strong pot of Yorkshire Tea.

Highly recommended and would urge anyone expats in Calgary yearning for good old fish & chips to get down there if you haven't already.
