Think that's what you have to do and when the smoke clears ... see the lay of the land.

Poodles to it.

The Loonie broke parity for a short time this morning: just before 11.00 ET it was trading at 1.0003, according to the CBC report here - it dropped below parity again shortly afterwards.

When was the last time they were at par? I guess Howard1944 is right - now is a good time to buy a condo in Florida. Pitty I don't like Florida that much. Or condos.

My guess would be though (and this is pure speculation!) that although you paid 8 times salary you don't live in an "average" house? Photo please?

It's average by Canadian standards but luckily for me the equity in my UK home paid for 85% of it, so my mortgage payments are relative to my salary.

Dan! Where have your cars gone!
That's a beauty of a house, what views do you have from the front?
(Oops, getting away from the gist of the thread again).

Yeah, its like one of those magic photos that responds in real-time to the exchange rate. When it hits 1.98 the landscaping will dissapear.

Steve, you know what I'm talking about don't you. Have you looked at the photo of your house lately?

That was taken from the inside of my hire car back in July before I had bought any vehicles. In fact that's the photo I sent home to my Wife showing her the house that *I* had bought whilst she was still in the UK!

I'll post a pic tonight of the view to the front as they are on my home pc and I'm at work now supposed to be working ;)

serriously though, isn't you best bet to try and borrow the money in Canadian funds (even from a UK institution if you cant get the loan in Canada) so you don't have to convert? Then pay-off the loan when the rate is better and you've sold your house? If you have funds in pounds use it to pay down your UK mortgage so that you are able to borrow dollars instead?
