Re: Exchange rate

have had funds from house sale in the uk since May and was waiting to exchange, fortunately we are renting for a year and as my wages are enough to cover our outgoings( just about)we shall continue to rent until we see a rise in the rate. After all interest rates are rising in uk so it's making something.

You can also blame Northern Rock for the situation. They were always considered to be 'rock solid' and this recent event has shaken a lot of peoples confidence.

I have just sent over £78000 @ 2.01749 through booking a rate with LLoyds. I have just bought a house and we'll be paying from UK for the next 2 years before we move there. If the £ falls more we are ****ing stuffed! Let's hope we get stronger again.

This is absolutely dreadful - may have to drop our house price again and with a drop too in the exchange rate ....

Renting looks good for a while I think!

certainly in the last 10 years - but probably a lot longer - I couldn't find a chart that went back longer than that

I really feel for you Steve I really do. I was pissed off when I got $2.13 back in July but at least you have already purchased your house in Canada unlike some.

We didn't purchase the house till last week, that is we exchanged the funds to pay for the house when the mid price was $2.01, we got $2.00. We haven't sold the UK house yet so that's going to be the last big currency exchange, hopefully next month unless the property chain collapses again.

But don't feel sorry for me, It's the way of economics. It could be a lot worse, it might have been reversed...£0.50 to $1, now that would have stopped me immigrating. I don't like Starbucks and wide roads that much:)
