Not much of a dream then. My dreams have sun and sand and pneumatic lovelies and cocktails. Cheap, unregulated cocktails, right there on the sand.

I say clamp down on the criminals doing Y and not innocent people doing X. I accept however that some people are happy with state control of things like this - but what worries me is the set of X's that aren't allowed just gets bigger and bigger all the time.
I thought that may get a response. It cuts both way for the police though. If we see someone drunk we are automatically responsible for their welfare - if we can't get them home they spend the night with us - they get a free breakfast though...

I'd hardly call it puritanical, overly regulated perhaps - but really...... Drugs well that's an entirely different thread - I do find that druggies are generally easier to deal with and don't throw up in the back of your police car. And kids on a bit of dope is way safer than slugging down a half pounder of vodka or god know what else.

Ok, I love this site I really do.

From asking anyone if they have "any regrets" and looking for stumble stories. I get replies from toiltet paper to alcohol on the beach to supermarkets, druggies, police wooooow jeez the list is endless, he he

Its amazing what can be picked up from one liners. I have had a right laugh at some of these posts.

By the way anyone got "any regrets"

You're talking end product. The difference between the two is that the supermarkets / alcohol retailers don't commit violence, shoot-outs, stabbings or kill each other (and innocent people) for market share

Nor would drug dealers if their product was legal (I say this without wishing to start a moral debate about it)

True, i was simply talking about the merits of kids on dope vs booze. As i pointed out, drugs, well that a whole different topic.

I just find it ludicrous to believe that Canada provides a clear moral example of alcohol consumption that the UK doesn't.

They're even putting in two pissoirs in downtown to avoid the inevitable river of piss that said alkies flood the pavements with every weekend.
