I wonder if anyone actually likes 100% of where they live........

Poll, I reckon it also depends on what a poster chooses to discuss or post. I sort of like '100pc' of Australia because what I don't like is not relevant or would be found anywhere.

Reading some posts from the more unhappy posters, it seems it's not just a case of disliking or liking but having a fundamental peeve of the way life works. The thing is, it's clear from the way some people post that they appear to hate it on an fervent, almost idealogical level.

There are also people who have said that they neither like or dislike but their posts would indicate - mostly - dislike.

So what I find interesting- from a psych/behavoioural perspective is the way people choose to not bother pointing out positives but tend to focus on only the negative. They say a few nice things - almost a token measure - then bam! - the knife goes in. What's interesting is that some of the most serial 'haters' and 'trolls' have eventually said they quite like aspects of Australia but they tend to hold on to this very reluctantly!

Personally, I have tabled what I don't like Australia - the goddam awful suburbs - and everything connected with it - but I have never put the knife in, or consistently had issues with much of life here. I have also tabled that I don't like suburban life and its people in the UK much either.

Of course you do. I've often said that there are just some issues I would never discuss here. It's just not done. It would be naff.

That's OK. This is the internet. 99pc of people do not know me.

99pc of people would be amused. 99pc of people would understand the manner in which I posted it - in answer to another post which itself could be construed as negative - and also the fact it was not accusatory, inflammatory, nor negative -but infact, curiously positive, and was discussing aspects of medicine. (Infact, I don't think I even expressly mentioned her vag - I referred to her pelvic floor and the like - can't remember!).

But talking about many other domestic situations might be naff. People might be naff. Talking about your MIL, or how badly behaved your relatives are, in my opinion, is naff.

You obviously have a socialist, left-wing viewpoint on this topic and I have a capitalist, right-wing viewpoint. There's no point as I am never going to agree with the RSPT in it's current form.

Let's agree to disagree.

You're right, agree to disagree is best I think.

Just spotted this quote in todays AFR, page2. Michael Fisher, local business owner in Perth.

it has to have a flow on effect for local business, which means the mining tax is bad for me. But those b*st*rds make so much bl**dy money any way, I don't sympathise with them either.

There we go again - the space before the comma.... It's such a 'forensic' standout - that's coming from someone who is *not* a grammar or spelling nazi...

Sorry about the typo. I'll be examining your posts with a new vigour . Sorrry about your wife's vag.

Dont worry. Many Brits go home but they dont feel the need to run it past this lot.

England is great. Thats why so many people are headed there. Be happy. You hail from one of the greatest places on earth.

ABC - can you give us a stat on how many people emigrate from England to Australia permanently (not WHV) vs how many people emigrate from Australia to England permanently (not WHV)

Just for the fun of it.

Australia is a great place, theres no denying it.

I watch English shows on TV and cant help thinking we have a greater freedom in our thoughts and opinions. Once you come to Oz, you seem to have to sign over all thoughts and opinions. Most Brits just arent raised that way.
