Leaving yourself open to the howls of 'socialist' there!

The resource industry is of course a special case...that's why they already pay royalties...huge royalties, which of course the previous government was all too happy to collect.

My understanding is that RSPT at least partially replaces royalties...but there is so much noise on this subject coming from the mining sector it's almost impossible to have a reasonable debate.

The mining sector of course says if it wasn't for us Australia would've fallen victim to the GFC...but I read somewhere that if resource sector job losses had been replicated throught the economy we would've had 19% unemployment!

Yea maybe - but according to the assembled throngs baying for a punch-up, I'm here all the time. :D

I post once a week, if that, these days. But if the stuff I said in this thread is considered bad form then this site really has plummeted into a morass of tedium. I mean seriously, what about all those dust-ups with Spike Plankton - and what-his-name with the rat for an avatar - and that bloke that had about 50 accounts - and wombat69 and all those other ones who understood the basic principle of arguing on Internet forums that guides everything else.

*grumbles ... drools into his pie and mash ... scratches his balls ... and saunters off to bed ... *

'forced income equalization will stunt growth'

- if 'stunting growth' is a bad thing, then why do we seek to control growth through monetary policy? :lightbulb:

perhaps controlling growth = facilitating the growth of some, at the expense of others....

Why should I?

You obviously have a socialist, left-wing viewpoint on this topic and I have a capitalist, right-wing viewpoint. There's no point as I am never going to agree with the RSPT in it's current form.

Let's agree to disagree.

Nope, sorry - cos some of us like bits - and dont like other bits. I live here, I accept that, same as I eventualy would accept wherever I happened to be iving. Doesn't mean I really like it or dislike it - its just there. Same mucky brown stuff, just a different bucket.

I wonder if anyone actually likes 100% of where they live........
