Make your own. Peel apricots and put them on a wire rack in a fan forced oven set to 100 for about 2 hours. Check if they're dry as you would like and either dehydrate a couple of hours longer or take them our and keep in an air tight container. I also used to dry pineapple, apples, any kind of fruit really.
I remember about 15 years ago my husband and I driving to Seattle, 3 hours away from our home in Vancouver, to try a Starbucks. We took a sip of our coffee and both said the same thing, "We drove 100 miles for THIS!?!"

Best food I've gotten into is pavlova. I used to make it in Canada, too, but for some reason it tastes much better here. Must be the fan forced ovens and fresh fruit for the topping.

Of course it isn't right in Canada - it's not their food!!

What really annoys me about Australians these days is that they don't know the origin of this food.

Nobody has any idea it was named after Anna Pavlova (hence the ballet colours of the thing). Plus everybody mispronounces it 'Pav-Uh-Lova'.


I haven't had Burger Rings since I was in high school. I'll have to try them again. They sold them in our school canteen - in the days before anything remotely tasty was banned. I ate them and didn't become obese. Dumb politicians and their dumb ideas.

I thought Pavlova was generally accepted (except by Aussies!) to be of New Zealand origin though?

Not so much a food but a herb...Vietnamese mint...so refreshing in salads and a taste sensation I had never experienced before

Where I used to work we bought Fantales and Minties by the 5 kilo bag as fillers for client gifts. The majority of them ended up being filler for my gob.

Today I discovered a new favourite food. Balsamic vinegar and sea salt flavoured rice cakes. I ate 3 of them this afternoon and my mouth is all burnt from the vinegar. Yummy.

If you like them you might like to try Fantastic Delite Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar crackers. Strange texture but the taste make up for it!

well coffee for a start, i thought coffee was a dirty dishwater served in a greasy spoon or a nice frothy milky one from wimpy, but when i moved to melbourne in 99 and had a latte, my word.

and my favourite of all, JAPANESE FOOD !!!! everywhere, Sushi, cheap, yummy, healthy and worth its wait in gold.

I but some sushi in tescos last week out of desperation and it was crunchy.
