Amazing game! Scotland really deserved to win that.

But I'm glad they didn't.

:p

So all the rest of the home nations are joining England on the bench...with their combined world cups of zero...

Shame about Ireland. Australia don't get the chance to get the Grand Slam now.

It wasn't a penalty

Joubert f**ked up - again

But that's rugby - swings and roundabouts

World cup is wide open

What about the Argies? Good forwards, whippet backline.

Looking at where many of their team play its in Argentina rather than Europe. Respect.

Seems like rugby union is even more corrupt than soccer... certainly didn't see this coming.

Nah .... Craig Joubert is a terrible ref. This is nothing new. He always has been.

Well I'm glad he is because I went from tears of grief to tears of joy within 30 seconds. I thought it was all over for Australia.

He can't be that bad if readers selected him as second best in April, only second to Nigel Owens.

Who's the best rugby referee in the world?

One thing for sure is that the semi finals will have northern hemisphere referees.;)

Australia lucky but could hardly play worse - Foley's kick which was knocked down, the pass to the Scot for the try, Foley's missed kicks, handling errors galore etc. That will be the same Joubert who chalked off the Aussie try which he'd originally given? He should have at least asked for a review of his last decision for sure. As I said earlier, it's there for the Kiwis to lose - will they bottle again?

So it's all Southern Hemisphere countries in the semis!

Re: The Rugby Union Thread

Its official. Its a knock on and offside.

A knock-on occurs when a player loses possession of the ball and it goes forward, or when a player hits the ball forward with the hand or arm, or when the ball hits the hand or arm and goes forward, and the ball touches the ground or another player before the original player can catch it.

FYI, the point being disputed is whether the ball came off the Scot (the Saffer Strauss) or the Australian - the ref thought the former, all the studio experts on UK commentary (McGeechan, Lynagh and Dallaglio) couldn't decide from countless replays and all said the ref should have reviewed it at least. Quoting the rule book is irrelevant; it's who it came off not the rule under discussion.
