Hun, I dont think for one minute thats the intention, and why on earth would you feel guity. You are doing an amazing job and most that know you are so proud ;) I'm proud of Sean too  Take a deep breath my love, I am loving the facts that you post to us, instead of the disaster porn of the media xx

No, me neither.
Think you read more than was there Pol through those bleary eyes. :)

As for the disaster porn.
I hate that they keep showing that car floating through the muddy field. The wife and child were rescued but he's missing FFS and could well have perished.

I know, its so upsetting. Did you see the other guy in the car leaning over his steering wheel as the car was floating, did he get rescued?

I think it is looking bad for the guy that was on top of the car though.:(

I think it was just husband, wife and child Sam who eventually got onto the roof.
They rescued 2 but when they went back for him, no sign.

There was a lot in the press about the Emergency Alert that went out to the Lockyer Valley, how some people didn't receive it till hours later etc. Those of us that do the alerts are under so much pressure when we draw the map of the warning area, its no easy task knowing you have to send a message to thousands of people telling them to evacuate their homes NOW - and also knowing you have to word it carefully so its clear but also acceptable by government guidelines:rolleyes: There is always a cast of interested staff watching you, which doesn't help, and when you do one like Lockyer Valley, or Dalby, and you find later that people didn't make it, its a real gut-wrenching feeling of "could I have done it quicker?" "did we warn a wide enough area?" "was the wording clear enough?"
We've done so many in the last two weeks that some staff think we must be getting blase about them, but I still think its the hardest part of the job :(

Polly you have and are doing everything you can without those warnings the missing list would be much higher, think of all those lives that you have saved. Be proud of what you do it's a great thing :)

Emergency Management and Triple 0 operators have been doing a sterling job with the deployment of a limited set of resources, especially in light of the unnecessary challenges posed by selfish people. Looters, skylarkers, rubber neckers and abusive spouses who couldn't keep their violence to themselves for a few days.

Energex even had to put out an appeal today to ask sightseers to go home as they couldn't get access to places to fix power lines due to there being so many people out doing not a lot.
