it doesnt ,but neither does turning the other cheek .If someone hit you ,what would you do ? take it ,i wont .
Human nature dictates that violence and name calling will escalate if the perpetrator of the violence ,name calling, isnt brought down a peg or two by any means .

Hi hon... I wasn't talking about on here... Sas mentioned how he bites back when someone verbally abuses him... and how some British people don't bite back... I was just wondering how it helped the 'them and us' situation which exists with the person doing the abusing in the first place. I think biting back just re-enforces their misconceptions whereas walking away is usually better, but that's just me, not anyone else.... I prob didn't phrase it well enough.. . bit tired, kids been sick all night.

Fair enough. I'm not sure what I'd do, sass... I guess I live in a fairly civilised bit of Aus and I've never had to deal with anything like that... Have in the UK though... vile neighbours. :(

Hello pet...sorry about the kids...hope they / you soon feel better hon:o

I thought Sas was a woman:eek:

I agree BTW....I usually turn the other cheek, however there are occasions when some are so stupid that talking shite back is all they understand:rolleyes:

Usually, I walk away, shake head and laugh in wonderment:D

I agree... walking away laughing takes the wind out of their sails. Usually.
I have no idea if Sassenach is female or male... I've never checked, just assumed. :o Sorry Sass!

I find the best way if you're going to answer back is to shoot one of those lines which they work out 5 minutes after you've gone.... Trouble is actually thinking of them, which usually means delivering a bad one and then coming up with a great one half an hour later. :D

I am very lucky to have found a VERY un-dull place :D
And believe me, I'm not easily pleased - I'm widely travelled etc. However, with two young girls - I don't think anywhere could ever be dull :D

I'll be good after a good sleep. The eldest is a bit brighter so I think they'll be back to normal come Tues. Kids bounce back so quickly.

Since when does entering a slanging match do anything but diminish both parties?

Same with me... I don't know how anyone can find this country dull, but then I have three children and I'm on the go all the time. There you go, iam... there's your answer... Have kids. :D
But look, ATEOTD, each to his own. Anyone who comes here and loves it, good for them and equally good for the people who come and don't love it - they tried something new and can tick that one off their 'regrets list'.

OK. i will ask my wife if she fancies adding to the two teenage lads we have now, but I think her response is likely to be unprintable. :D

you tell me oh wise one ,what is the answer then because i wont be insulted and let anyone get away with it ,it only makes it more acceptable in general society .
Just like the word nigger was no doubt acceptable years and years ago ,you would be hard pressed to find some scrawny arse white boy calling a black guy ''nigger ''these days and the black guy replying ''yes masser ''.You call me a fu--ing pom to my face and your going to get some reply ,that is my choice .
