I haven't really noticed much whinging - perhaps I don't go seek it out? Anyway, it's been a good Olympics, and as a Pozzie I am, of course, claiming all medals won by GBR and AUS as my own.

I think I might also claim any countries who have a Union flag within their national flag as mine too.

Also, I think I may adopt Mo Farah.

Well they currently stand on an roughly equal medal tally to last time (65), and 27 Gold vs 29 last time. Possibility of another Gold before the end.

And say that's pretty much maintaining performance from 2012.

Australia is 9th in the table, on 8 Gold and 29 medals total, with the possibility of Bronze before the end. In London they had 8 Gold and 35 in total.

I'd say that's also pretty much maintaining performance from 2012, or maybe slightly worse, depending on how the final chances go.

Problem is, that was called 'a disaster'...

By Australian standards it is a disaster....and for that reasontheyve got every right to bitch complainand whimge....none of that "jolly good show" and its the oarticipation that counts in this country....how else would it drive itself to be one of the top performing nations in every one of lifes measurable aspects.....Too right theryre bitter and whinghing....this is a disaster.

Wrong. Its just an average performance. On the spend factor the medal count is roughly the same as GB, NZ and USA. Australians do expect their sportman to perform well above average and in the past this has been achieved putting in place systems like the AIS which is now well past its used by date. If Australians think medals are worth it, they need to throw more money at the problem, like GB has.

I'd guess that if you were to put it to a national vote, the majority of the population would rather funds go elsewhere these days. Like gay and lesbian marriage referendums. How times change.

Jarred Tallent was a lovely bloke too, in fact too much loveliness from most of the Australian Olympians.

Its a pity GB are producing such cocks like Rutherford and Cavendish. Then again its not surprising.

They've started whinging about Michelle Jenneke (aka Jiggle Girl) not giving it 110%. This is someone who's 56th in the world, and who's making mint from sponsorship.

I get the feeling that when tomorrow is over, and they realise they've done no better than 2012, there will be more bloodletting.

Where does the money from OzLotto go anyway? Certainly they should be funding other things but sport - however if the UK can do it, so can Australia.

Anyone that takes part in the spirit of the game deserves a medal. I would love the aussies to do well at the olympics and get a heap of golds just lke team GB... unfortunately they haven't. That's nothing to be embarrassed about;)

I hear australia are the world champs at "aussie rules" :thumbsup: that gotta be good!

Japan an amazing performance for a tiny team, ditto Korea well done, GB amazing result, Australia you had very nice Blazers I loved them.

Pity I have to go dentist this morning, TV will on in the waiting room and above the dental chair,

Then my partners SIL arrives back from Rio, No helicopter mother of twenty something child medal and we will have to listen to 43 rounds of UNFAIR.

How exactly 4 performances, placing third, last, last and last with final result of last is unfair I dont know, but am about to find out....

Wow. My Olympic thread on whatsapp with a bunch of poms and aussies has got sour grapes all over it this morning. Something about Boxing and cheating judges.
