Yes, by pointing out the team golds, the benefit of union lottery funding etc. ;)

But as we've covered, a major part of the reason the UK did as well as it did was because of the use of lottery funding to support athletes. So obviously those scottish athletes were disproportionately supported by English funds, and without that support they wouldn't have done as well.

And looking at the list, quite a few of those 'scottish' medals were in teams - so they obviously needed their non-scottish team mates. eg of the 4 gold, 3 are in teams or pairs.

See money can buy happiness. For once we have a sports thread where the English (forget the Brits) contribute.

According to the Manchester Evening News, if athletes born or based in Greater Manchester were a country, they would have finished 4th in the table (third if those medals were removed from GB's haul)

If Manchester was a country

Fear not, I've worked it out.

If Australia wasn't a country, and its athletes were cats instead of people, then - shite, I forgot what the ending was

Would have it been better if the National Lottery was used to put more funds into the NHS instead?

Will the Olympics inspire people to adopt healthy habits and reduce the health budget?

Nope, probably just to buy a bigger TV, order Foxtel, and chow down on triple cheese deep crust pizza and beer.

However to be fair it would be hard to emulate that while wearing head to toe Kermit green polyester.

Every time I see the uniform, all 14,000 pieces apparently  I just want to tweak that colour scheme a little, well OK a lot, so many beautiful shades of green, crisp white, a gold button.

Been there and done it my friend. You're catching up.
