If I did that my mother would lose the plot. I have to either keep everything or else it has to go to her. So, its all eventually coming with me. My tv, my ps3, my speaker system, my bike, my imac, etc.....

The only bigger things i have are my telly system and computer.

Telly is a sony TV/DVD/VIDEO thing. Bought for £550 about 3 years ago.

Computer is a mesh computer.Bought for £500 2 years ago. Sell with the printer and computer stand.

Hoping i can get £200 for the computer and £200 for the Telly package.

I will buy a laptop here before i go. Wish i bloody bought one rather than this computer now so i would not have to sell.

Hope to sell my sofa's with the flat. Beds and other furniture i will sell with the flat also. I have the biggest university in europe 2 miles from my flat. Student central now.

Hoping a buy-to-let inverstor snaps it up.

The leather sofas wont fit back through the front door. I would have to hire a lift thing to put them out on the window. Im on the first floor.

Just other bits and bobs i have.

Ok folks - hows this for a downer. Just spoke to vetassess who have advised me that there is no way they will assess my qualifications as a 50 point occupation only as a 40. Which means I'm 10 points short!!! And probably not going anywhere.....................................:(

whys that? 10 points? How come they will not assess you based on the full 50? as from what I know most of the occupations are standard at 50 arent they?

I hopefully finish my masters this year so I should be able to get assessed then for a 50 pointer. Means I have to wait or try and find an employer to sponsor me instead. I so wanted to be there for next Christmas........:(

Thank you. Feeling pretty crap now. I dont see the point of going to univeristy for all that time if then your qualifications dont actually mean anything. They have also said that all my work experience might not count as if I only pass my Masters in June, it will all be classed as pre qualification which is not good enough to meet the two year work rule. Yet on the ASCO code information it says skilll level required is a higher qualification OR 5 years experience? I'm sooooooo p***** off! :curse:

hi pony..really sorry to hear your news. i had a similar conversation when i was planning to come to oz a year ago and they told me that as i didn't have a degree i wasn't able to migrate even though i had the 5 years exp, however i spoke to another migration co who told me different. i had to get refs from all of my previous employers with this exp to qualify my visa. i had my visa granted and all was ok. i didn't end up going a year ago because of something entirely different but i do know that it is a qual or exp, unless it's different for specific careers but i didn't think so. i would suggest you get a 2nd opinion. i am not sure of your circumstances but if you had a relative over tehre, they could sponsor you whilst still going on a skilled visa which increases your points. i'm sure you have looked into this but just thoiught i'd try and help. god luck and i hope you get something sorted.

Really lou? So what did you do about the positive skills assessment question on your visa application? I can get as many references as they like - but they just keep telling me I need a positive skills assessment even though the DIAC wesbite says 5 years experience OR a qualification. Any help greatly appreciated. :thumbsup:

It varies depending on the organisation doing the skills assessment (i.e. which is dependent on your job). E.g. for IT professionals, ACS have criteria for graduates with some work experience and those with no degree but a lot of work experience and a diploma. Best to check on immi.gov.au to see what organisation you should contact re skills assessment, and then check with them on their specific criteria.

Sorry to hear that!! Maybe you should talk to somebody like George Lombard and see if there's anything that can be done, maybe to get an extra 10 points, or to get your qualifications assessed for a 50 pointer.

If I had any spare points, I'd give them to you, but I get 100 exactly, so none to share I'm afraid.

Sorry to hear that pony. Keep looking though, similar thing happened to me and its likely there'll still be a way in. Seems like everyone's on a downer at the moment for one reason or another.
