hah oh dear what happened to your lad? I'm sure there are rugby clubs all over the place so fear not! i think nearest skiing is Snowy mountains just over the border in victoria? apparently 6 hr drive from sydney so not bad at all. I need to do some more research on it all though - it was featured on ski sunday last night i believe, and i taped that so will watch tonight. Of course NZ isn't far either and flights aren't bad. Either way sure europe and the US are much better overall, so much more developed for a start. i'm not a good tennis player right now :) I was getting pretty good but had a 2 year break and now i'm rubbish! |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
scuba steve you just became my new best mate. this is what i love about aus and the life we are going to! Best place to be young and enjoy the outdoors.
yeah bring on the BE snowboarders thread! I'm missing out on lake tahoe this year because i need to save for emigrating, so this aussie winter i am well up for the season!

I heard there are now lots of "soccer" teams out there. Do you know how to surf - I mean the technical bit?? I may need lessons - I haven't got a clue about what exactly I'm supposed to be trying to do:confused: |

I've done that before playing football 3 years ago and it still causes me trouble. Make sure he tries and keep it as mobile as possible even though it hurts like hell.
That's exactly what the doc said!! |

Aquamarine, i know the girl well enough to know she could never leave her family behind, and that's the real issue. i'll def post up in the BE boarders thread about what they had to say on Ski Sunday. forgive my ignorance, what's a rotater cuff?! Is there a boarders thread??? This site is GOOD!!! and our thread is GREAT!!!!! There's everything - tears, laughter (as well as lager, langoustine, liposuction....), sports, medical dramas ..... |

loving the sporty feel we're now giving all this.. Tennis yeah, football yeah (coach also), golf yeah (can teach), ski/snowboard yeah, rugby yeah, running yeah, triathlon yeah. I'm a good all-rounder!!! anyone like squash to? roll on!! g/f's, lost mine at xmas hence the desire to get over there now has been moved on alot quicker over the last 2 months!! |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
hey moonstar, i read that somewhere else, hard luck mate. but never fear you will soon be over in aus mopping up all the lonely single ladies with scuba steve and myself, and that is worth keeping in mind over the next few weeks while the visa is approved!
sport unites us as future aussies, it's the way of life. love it! i was reading a bit about thredbo, looks like a decent ski resort, $400 for 5 days, 6 hrs from sydney, $190 board/boots hire if you need it.. looks the dogs. We'll need to plan a trip for july/august i think. Aquamarine how is your lad? i read about about that injury earlier, sounds rough but at his age sure he'll soon heal up. Not like us poor oldies! afraid i am on the injury list, damaged ankle ligaments playing 5-a-side tonight, was having a great game too. 4 hrs in A&E, gutted! No sports for a while.. i'm sure we're only single cause we are migrating. no room for getting involved now. Feel like a bloody monk! |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
I think we'd all better make sure our insurance is adequate before we go. i'd be up for a boarding hol, looks like I'll miss out again this year.

Everything is really cool thanks :D It’s much better than anticipated as thought living here couldn’t live up to holidaying over here but it has and more :)
I managed to get a job within 2 weeks of getting here (much quicker than I’d hoped actually ;)), but I work in IT and they can’t get peeps fast enough in Sydney! The admin stuff was a bore, and the hardest part was getting a place to rent as everything gets snapped up so quick, but eventually managed to get a nice place overlooking Darling Harbour so all worked out well I the end……I’m a true believer in fate! Social life is pretty poor :(…….have a lot of work friends but most are couples and live out in the burbs. Literally just trying to kick start some kind of social scene but it’s a toughie in a new place and not too sure where to start really, not used to being a billy no mates! I may well be forced into spinsterhood against my will  And a cat is definitely on the horizon once I get my own place  These are all things that I have been thought about - and having not been on my own for the last 3 years I do worry about being alone in a new place - but BE has showed me there are ways of meeting new poeple:) It looks like everything is going good for you, Im so glad. |
