by eck it's gone mad in 'ere!
I cannot wait to get over there, I've put off getting attached to anyone again, like a few others here my ex didn't want to go and leave her family, absolutely gutted but not enough to stay i guess :o it's definately making the wait harder, but it's been made much easier by the knowledge I have the BE sydney singles nights to look forward to! and dates at the moonlight cinema, breakfast at a sunny coogee cafe, glam nights at the opera house, starry beach picnic rendevous, romantic trips to a kings cross strip club.. :D patience! |

Seriously you'll be fine. I came over here on the understanding my other half would follow 3 months later, suffice to say he didn't....so at least you know up front :) |

Hello All
Good to see I'm not the only singleton looking to move to Oz. Mate of mine has moved to Melbourne who's sadly just split from his girlfriend, figured that I would go and join him while I have no one else to consider. Been to Oz before for a short holiday and loved it. Just looking into VETASSESS so fingers crossed. Anyone else doing Melbourne or is everyone doing Sydney? |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
huh what a coward, I know it's tough for people to give up what they know, but that really wasn't on!
I asked my ex to try it, and if she really hated it we could come back. But she wasn't prepared to do that, so there we go. At least she was honest with me so I respect her for that. So hey I think it's all good to be romantic, but there's nothing wrong with having a wicked side. Can't be a pussycat all the time, can you? That would be most unsatisfactory ;) |

Too right  Worrying that you've turned it back to cats yet again though.....;)
so are you pretty upset & p*ssed off with the guy or what? Or are you maybe finding the new freedom liberating? Sounds like you are making the best of it. |

V p*ssed off to say the least, we actually went through a v painful 4 year visa process to get here so I'm sure you can imagine how I feel :curse: On the plus side I love Sydney and would never go back and you sure as hell find out how strong you are when you need to be! Yep, making the best of it as life's too short.....basically his loss, both Oz and me ;) |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
too right it is! you are definately in the best place to start fresh, and you don't need someone that would let you down after being given four whole years to speak up! How're you getting along out there? Social life, job ok etc? Bought any cats yet? Or willing to keep trying the dating scene before you accept spinsterhood? :p

I managed to get a job within 2 weeks of getting here (much quicker than I’d hoped actually ;)), but I work in IT and they can’t get peeps fast enough in Sydney! The admin stuff was a bore, and the hardest part was getting a place to rent as everything gets snapped up so quick, but eventually managed to get a nice place overlooking Darling Harbour so all worked out well I the end……I’m a true believer in fate! Social life is pretty poor :(…….have a lot of work friends but most are couples and live out in the burbs. Literally just trying to kick start some kind of social scene but it’s a toughie in a new place and not too sure where to start really, not used to being a billy no mates! I may well be forced into spinsterhood against my will  And a cat is definitely on the horizon once I get my own place  |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
Hi, I came to this country in April with the love of my life, she broke up with me and left me with a flat I can't afford and and a pile of debt, also I had to struggle through my visa just to stay here in a country were I don't know any one. If I could play the violin I would. I'm still happy though working in a dead end job with no ambition or career path, its why I get out of bed in the morning. Aussies don't understand sarcasm, maybe you do?
