I mean Aussies can't swear for a start, they don't sound aggressive enough, they just ask you a question. lol

I cannot wait to get over there, I've put off getting attached to anyone again, like a few others here my ex didn't want to go and leave her family, absolutely gutted but not enough to stay i guess :o it's definately making the wait harder, but it's been made much easier by the knowledge I have the BE sydney singles nights to look forward to! So, any single females going to Adelaide, will see you there!! |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
Jeez, I leave my thread for one weekend and its gone crazy! We could be onto something here, suggestions for thread title change?
My gf isn't coming out with me either, its a tough decision. Its definitely a good measure of a person's character though. I'm heading to Sydney btw and trying to build up some mates/contacts for piss ups etc for when I get there so anyone PM me for my MSN, maybe we'll sort a sinlges night once we're all there! |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
yep that's the above 4 of us in the same boat on the ex gf front! still rather attached to mine too i must admit, although haven't even seen her for 4 months now to try and make things easier. It's really hard isn't it? Makes you think you're doing something awful to her, but we must all be the same and not prepared to compromise on what we want our lives to be!
It's messy and yep, makes being here still very awkward. Lots of arguments - "you love a country more than me / if you loved me you'd stay" type stuff. Sure you know the drill. I've had it for over a year, very draining. So Scuba Steve i'll be joining you at the bar! What part of sydney do you reckon you'll head for? Coogee or Maroubra for me (bit of a surfer). xzibit shame you won't be able to attend! Although god forbid we turn ourselves into a sorry load of lonely hearts missing our exes! Greyrabbit, feel bad for you mate, get out and have some fun, join some clubs. And don't worry, the BE singles night will be there to pick you up soon. Oz-bound, sounds like you are getting on really well, good on ya! Social scene will pick up, you sounds like a good gal to be around, and don't sound like the type to sit feeling sorry for yourself. Remember it's all there for you when you step out the door and go for it :) I guess any big new city is tough. I suppose i'm quite lucky as i have my sis there and her husband, both are cool people, and i dated an aussie girl when backpacking so still friendly with her and sure she'll make me some introductions! :D Who's sporty? I'm looking for a regular tennis partner when i get there, plus a 5-a-side team, maybe a rugby club, and definately some surf/snowboard buddies :) Sorry, essay :) take it easy Loners. |

Re: The Official Loners Thread
I'm looking at Coogee before mate, was there for a while last time I was over. See in the CBH for a Coldie! Its a really shit position to be in, especially when you still care about her. I think if you give something like this up for someone it'll eventually eat away at the relationship anyway.

Re: The Official Loners Thread
my thoughts exactly mate, i told her that i would be prepared to come back if she hated it (this works for what you're saying, Paul), but that if i never went i would resent it. So yep, only option was to just go, as i'm sure you well know!
so forget that, and i'll def see you in the CBH and the palace! keep me posted on how you get on with your app, as i will be needing a cool chilled out flat mate or two :) |

I feel for you all - for some it seems quite raw still..... Good idea to find out about each other's interests!! We're sporty!! Just come back from A & E after rugby match Sunday!!! (Sorry - not me (!), my son - he is also a mean tennis player - needs someone better than he is to play with - that counts me out!!). Distance to a good rugby and tennis club near Northern Beaches will be a key decider about where we live. Was reading another thread about skiing/snowboarding in Oz being expensive and snow nowhere near as good as Europe??:( Where's the nearest place to go for snow near Sydney? |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
hah can't beat a bit of male bonding Aquamarine!
hah oh dear what happened to your lad? I'm sure there are rugby clubs all over the place so fear not! i think nearest skiing is Snowy mountains just over the border in victoria? apparently 6 hr drive from sydney so not bad at all. I need to do some more research on it all though - it was featured on ski sunday last night i believe, and i taped that so will watch tonight. Of course NZ isn't far either and flights aren't bad. Either way sure europe and the US are much better overall, so much more developed for a start. i'm not a good tennis player right now :) I was getting pretty good but had a 2 year break and now i'm rubbish! |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
I play and coach football, snowboard, squash, run and intend to get much better at surfing when I get out there. Also play tennis a bit but your lad would probably beat me if he's older than 5.

Re: The Official Loners Thread
Re: skiing and boarding, was talking to a guy from Oz the other day and folk jump in the car when there's been a fresh load of snow and drive from Syd over the weekend. I'll def be getting involved in that. BE Sydney snowboarders thread anyone?!
