She didn't want a fly past on the grounds of cost so can we infer that perhaps she was ok with the rest of it!
I think ex PMs deserve a proper State funeral especially if they were more than a one term, or one-hit wonder.
We had London in 2012, why not Thacher in 2013...to stir the masses...

Nope hadn't noticed that. If anything done the reputation a lot of good. It's called democracy something Maggie herself was in favour. If anything she'd be looking down having a chuckle and throughly enjoying the division created by her demise.

BY FRANK TURNER
Whatever happened to childhood? We're all scared of the kids in our neighborhood They're not small, charming and harmless They're a violent bunch of bastard little shits
And anyone who looks younger than me Makes me check for my wallet, my phone and my keys And I'm tired of being tired out Always being on the lookout for thieving gifts
We're all wondering how we ended up so scared We spent ten long years teaching our kids not to care And that there's no such thing as society anyway
And all the rich folks act surprised When all sense of community dies But you just closed your eyes to the other side Of all the things that she did Thatcher ****ed the kids
And it seems a little bit rich to me The way the rich only ever talk of charity In times like the seventies, the broken down economy Meant even the upper tier was needing some help
But as soon as things look brighter Yeah the grin gets wider and the grip gets tighter And for every teenage tracksuit mugger There's a guy in a suit who wouldn't lift a finger for anybody else
You've got a generation raised on the welfare state Enjoyed all its benefits and did just great But as soon as they were settled as the richest of the rich They kicked away the ladder, told the rest of us that life's a bitch
And it's no surprise that all the ****-ups Didn't show up until the kids had grown up But when no one ever smiles or ever helps a stranger Is it any ******* wonder our society's in danger of collapse?
So all the kids are bastards But don't blame them, yeah, they learn by example Blame the folks who sold the future for the highest bid That's right, Thatcher ****ed the kids

The two most destructive things she did were selling council houses and speeding up the rate of the destruction of grammar schools. These two things had an enormous and strongly negative impact on British life that has lasted to today and no doubt beyond.
I don't hate her personally, because I never knew her, and I do find the celebrations in poor taste, although I appreciate why people feel like expressing themselves in this way. She was an enigma, was Maggie.

I don't think selling national assets at fence clearing sale prices to privilaged profiteers was necessary in the interests of the UK either.
Hence today a cartel of foreign companies running British utilities.
Nor from memory the near doubling of VAT soon after she became elected. A big blow to small business she claimed to be on the side of.
No managed decline of industry (unlike Germany)no longer or less relivant. Oh no it was class war from the blue rinse brigade, rubbing their noises in it. The politics of trumpalism.
Luckily North Sea Oil coming to its peak could pay the massive social security cost.
Yesterday we (UK) subsidised the top heavy national assets, at least in public hands to today subsidising the failure of the private sector.
Not sure I'm convinced that is any sort of trade off.
And I won't mention banks and the shonky goings on in the City with the banksters, except to say I really don't find a lot to celebrate about her time at the helm.
I admire her being a conviction politician. You certainly knwe where you stood with her. No half measures.

I am sure she got plenty of tips from Pinochet, Botha, ceacescu and Saddam on democracy.
