Guess I'm just a red neck, hick bogan at heart.
There aren't Queenslander houses in Perth, but there's all the other things on your list.

(Hmm...it's come to this, has it?)
Can't beat ducted reverse cycling Radiators are archaic as the heat is localised.

Total cobblers. I have ducted reverse cycling and it costs a packet to run, gets nowhere near the heat generated by radiators and is cold again the instant you turn it off. For heating... it's hopeless.

Absolutely. The ducted is great for cooling, but rubbish when it comes to heating and the high ceilings don't help with that either.

I disagree for the numerous reason stated (cost, effectiveness etc) but more importatnly, with ducted heating where could I line up my socks and underpants to get them red hot in the morning

I miss blokes that don't constantly feel the need to big themselves up and aggressively compete on everything.

Not saying that all Aussie blokes are like this but there are one heck of a lot of them around...

It's funny you say that because there would be people who miss that from the UK...people often comment on missing cut-throat 'dog eat dog' of the UK cities..

I meet far less London 'boys' here..

I wasn't really referring to the conspicuous consumption angle. More the need to 'out macho', 'out sport', 'out travel' etc I find that a lot - often the attempt is so hopeless it's comic.
