You've kind of missed the point.
The reason all that remains is bickering is because nobody really posts anything else. Even if you try and post on more interesting subjects, nobody bothers to keep the conversation going.
Recently I've basically given up on it. The far right will continue to post their ravings - but really, what's the point in pointing out the errors and falsehoods; they're not around for a discussion, just for the fights.
So, back off, let them devour themselves.
And on the subject of the fall off in migrants to Oz - it's very noticeable that the extreme visa requirements have put people off. People aren't going to spend years and large chunks of money on uncertainty - particularly not if they are coming from first world countries. There's a tipping point, and they pushed the visa pain past it.

In an attempt to get things back on topic.
I don't like to think of white settlement as an "invasion". Sure there were atrocities, but apologies have been made, hundreds of years have passed and constantly peeling scabs off old wounds does nothing to foster healthy relationships between indigenous Australians and non indigenous Australians. I have many indigenous relatives, including two half brothers and to be honest, the last thing we do is sit around chatting about this stuff.
Everyone in Australia came from somewhere else at some point, but now we're all one people. Hopefully being more harmonious with each other will encourage those new Australians who are reluctant to leave behind their old ways to grab a didgeridoo, a pair of rubber thongs and a set of BBQ tongs and feel the love.

I think you see these threads as what Arthur Harris called 'panacea targets' for the decline of BE Australia - whereas the reality is more complex. I think threads like five word, word association, stumble inn, harmless lie etc are inane drivel and I am totally not interested in them but many don't and they are very popular - they certainly get a lot of posts! Great stuff but this thread and its like are also popular. So what I'm seeing is choice - something for everybody

Yes .... of course ..... Shipping too ......
It really picks up in January February with the "I want to migrate to a hot Australia climate" threads. This year was particularly noticeable. Must have been an evil winter in the UK.

I like these posts and the contributors. Don't think I've ever gone anywhere near the word association or 5 word story,it's the internet equivalent of Wordsearch booklets...drivel.
I liked Beoz's ski thread : was a bit busy mate.
GarryP what's your take on identity management in the world of IT?

Whatever you say, kemosabe.
Serious identity management requires the same guts as serious encryption - which is a problem given the way governments have been weakening it, and bad guys have been attacking it.
You need a nice long key, and an algorithm not susceptible to quantum computing. Governments won't like that.
Fingerprints are totally useless - it's like trusting your telephone number as a pin.
A Bluetooth LE ring on your finger (that won't come off) makes some sense (though with the obvious problems)
I am wondering if eye/VR solutions might help, a bit, over the conventional pin entry.

You know when you look at it from an independent view point it certainly looks like an invade and conquer type of event.
Should we remember these people or not ? I certainly think there is a case for an official day.

I doubt the Aboriginal elders or community in itself would be happy with the idea though. Maybe there is an argument for their needs and wants to take precedence....Therein lies division and I personally cant condone that.
Question is are they Australians or not. I think they would agree they are....but with a caviet.

I personally agree with you on that one, however there should be a special part of the procession or whatever where they should be able to be recognised. I reckon some of the more recalcitrant members of the RSL would kick up about that as well.

As for the old RSL boys. F**k em. As for the old aboriginal boys. F**k em.
Can't get fairer than that.
