Yes if I injured or killed some one and it was my fault, I would be guilty and upset but if it wasn't my fault, I would be upset because of the whole thing but wouldn't be guilty as it would be there fault.

No I have not noticed that, if it their (The pedestrian) fault and the driver is driving within the law then they will be fine.

But.....

If they were being a "Prat" as sometimes 5 year old kids do love em then surely you can see that if you were doing 70 in a 60 it takes longer to stop. The distance taken is considerably more and that is just at 70.

Speeding kills.

Blame culture :) Whose fault is this -- read below -- husband or wife (though I guess many would say the police!)......
-------------------------------

A police officer pulls over a speeding car. The officer says, " I clocked you at 100 km per hour, sir."

The driver says, "Gee, officer I had it on cruise control at 60, perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating."

Not looking up from her knitting the wife says: "Now don't be silly dear, you know that this car doesn't have cruise control."

As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks over at his wife and growls, "Can't you please keep your mouth shut for once?"

The wife smiles demurely and says, "You should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did."

As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through
clenched teeth, "Damit, woman, can't you keep your mouth shut?"

The officer frowns and says, "And I notice that you're not wearing your seat belt, sir. That's an automatic $135 fine."

The driver says, "Yeah, well, you see officer, I had it on, but took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket."

The wife says, "Now, dear, you know very well that you didn't have your seat belt on. You never wear your seat belt when you're driving."

And as the police officer is writing out the third ticket the driver turns to his wife and barks, "WHY DON'T YOU PLEASE SHUT UP??"

The officer looks over at the woman and asks, "Does your husband always talk to you this way, Madam?"

"Only when he's been drinking."

But if the driver is doing 60 or less than the allowed 60 where yet again is the parent who should be supervising the child riding on the bike or running out on the road, irresponsible parents do love em.

Totally agree. A car is a lethal weapon. It can maim and kill! Is it such a ridiculous idea that people who drive should take more care when pedestrians are around?

Lou.

Quite agree with a bit of Grey. If you are concentrating on the traffic and road conditions around you and looking ahead it is easy to stop looking at a little dial that takes your eyes off the road and creep up a little, so the appeal process you mention is quite fair.

Yep there's alot of grey in the world but some people are just either 'thick' or colour blind. It is easy to creep over the speed limit.
What worries me though are those people who are so concerned about keeping to the speed limit that their eyes are not on the road ahead as often and they could just as easily run some poor child/person over!

Well it's simple, as a parent who is properly supervising your child you stop it running out on the road in the first place or riding it's bike out as you have it under supervision which includes acting in a manner that will protect it not saying "off you go Jonny go play with the traffic".

Meelie it's so true. I am so concerned with getting another speeding ticket that every 2 or 3 seconds i am glancing at the speedo. Previously when i didnt always glance down i got speeding tickets for going a tiny bit over (never any more than 8km though as any more than 10km you would be blatently speeding and you would probably feel you had speeded up, anything under and its hard to tell). I felt i was a safer driver before as didnt leave eyes off the road much. I would be devasted if , while too busy glancing at my speedo, i ran someone over or crashed into someone. However, would that be okay cos i was within the speed range???
Cant actually believe that i am still reading this thread though it's like arguing a point with my husband (he's another thats always right whatever the truth is.) Some people admit there could be a different stance on a situation when it's argued but others never like to admit that there is a world outside of their box they keep there heads in.

I have a feeling if you had any sort of accident because you were actually trying to keep to the right speed by watching the clock that they wouldn't say Oh! that's ok then your eyes were diverted as a result of our rules... have a feeling that somehow they would still throw the book at you. Think you will find men or allways right, unless it comes to finding something in the house which then is impossible to find until the woman looks for it and it then amazingly appears.
