Good grief, is this thread still running?

Look, it's pretty ****ing simple: if you don't ****ing speed, you won't get ****ing caught and you won't get ****ing fined. If you do speed and you do get caught and fined, that's your own ****ing fault and nobody else's - so don't ****ing whinge about it. End of.

I speak as a man who lost his licence for three months during 1999 after clocking up just under $1,000 in speeding fines.

Yes, the Multanovas are bloody annoying and yes, they're little more than blatant cash cow for the government. All the more reason to drive at a sensible speed!

I love your ****ing replies!, and to the point.
I got my second ever speeding ticket on friday night, my first ever ticket was when we were on holiday here about 3 years ago:mad:
But I'm not moaning, I was speeding and thats that, even though the crafty pig was hiding in the dark AND the speed camera sign was AFTER the speed camera:confused:

I can sympathise; I've had one speeding ticket since arriving in the UK nearly 3 years ago, and it's always bloody annoying to be caught - especially when your last one was years ago.

  • They nearly always hide; they justify this by pointing out that the locations of speed cameras are widely publicised in the media

  • The speed camera sign is always after the speed camera, and usually reads "You have just passed through a speed camera"; this is because the police have a perverted sense of humour

;)

If they really want to stop speeding the site of the police car is part of the deterent, these mupties hide behind treees and as you say put the speed camera after the car/camera so half the time people don't know they've been done till one to two weeks later. If you could see the car you would feel they were trying to be sly and you'd still get done but more people would slow down as a result of seeing the car.

Yep this thread is still going. Perhaps you should take note of your signature does it not mention freedom of speech? I was simply exercising my right of freedom of speech. And if you don't like it you know what you can do!

Now now, touchy.

I must pull you up on a few things darling.

My shit does stink, just like yours.......Ok, maybe not that bad but it does smell.
There is no halo above my head, if it were there it would slip and choke me.
The thing is, and I dont know what it will take to get this though thick peoples heads is that speeding is a crime full stop, there is no grey area. I really hope that you learn from your ticket and slow down but there will always be some young up and coming idiot to take your place and fly along trying to break the land speed record in a 60 zone.
It is like talking to a brick wall.

When will you get it into YOUR THICK HEAD  that Not everything is black and white and yes there are grey areas. If there were no grey areas why would you ever be allowed to appeal against a speeding fine?? I appealed against my first one as i generally keep to limit but crept over by 5 k per hour before getting back to 60mph. The police realized it is easy to do and let me off my ticket. I think if you are a constant speeder and just not an accidental speeder then that is very different. And apparantly it was in the local paper that anyone who is over the limit can appeal if it was less than 10k over.

Anyhow i am sure you will argue black is white so i will let you get on with it.

Quite agree with a bit of Grey. If you are concentrating on the traffic and road conditions around you and looking ahead it is easy to stop looking at a little dial that takes your eyes off the road and creep up a little, so the appeal process you mention is quite fair.

I just wonder how you might feel if you caused an accident and injured or killed someone.

I am sure your grey area would ease your guilt.

Have you noticed though when the person is walking too fast or running and not quite thinking and walks out or rides a bike out and causes the accident it is still always the car drivers fault even when they are within the speed limit. Nobody does beat the pedestrian up for being such a prat.

Yes if I injured or killed some one and it was my fault, I would be guilty and upset but if it wasn't my fault, I would be upset because of the whole thing but wouldn't be guilty as it would be there fault.
