I think it's the Outlander series if I remember correctly. I have seen a few people comment on them but have never read any myself and then they fell off my radar and I forgot about them. I do like a weighty tome though, I feel like a get value for money from them (must be the Scottish part of me ). I think I'll add the first to my extremely lengthy list of books that sooner or later I'll buy when my ship comes in!

Just finished reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer (the Twilight series author)

Lovely thick book .. bizarre story, but very readable.

No vampires or werewolves included.

Briefly - Earth has been invaded (in the past) and its citizens now have alien parasites - 'Souls' - which inhabit their bodies. Usually, when the Soul takes control, the human host is completely lost, but a Soul called Wanderer has to contend with Melanie, a stroppy human presence who almost drives her mad with memories and attitude. These memories drive Wanderer to an intense situation far outside her comfort zone.

Sounds weird, I know, and its not the horror story it sounds like, but a story of relationships and emotional development in a crazy mixed up world.

I was thinking about adding that to my wish list - I'll wait and see what you think when you get to the end of it before I do though
