The UK doesn't look at general elections or referendums as a country v country 2:2 victory or what ever spin you want to put on it.

If Scotland wish to leave the UK, they can, have another localised referendum, and because of Brexit they may have good reason to do so. NI can join them. Wales obviously have made their call.

Now that is an absolutely spiffing idea

Just out of interest why would NI join the separatists - are the Unionists not still the majority over there?

Damn that democracy it constantly gets in the way doesn't it........

:D Indeed.

NI is geographically closer to Scotland and has shared kinship. It would be interesting to see how that changed dynamic would affect things. Alternatively, NI could have their own referendum to decide whether they want to be handed over to the Republic of Ireland or to remain a member in the UK.

Exactly, so what's the point of them predicting where the UK will be in 10 years.

You make a very good point and I agree with you entirely. They have no more idea than you or I.

The Brits are resourceful people, they always find a way (except when it comes to football) :)

Why should they get to choose happiness? We're all in this together.

Interesting to hear Australia isn't interested in a trade deal prior to Article 50 being invoked and the Canada-EU deal appears to be going nowhere fast. This trade business is a sticky wicket, you can spend the best part of a decade negotiating only to have parties disagree. Then you've got to have something they want to buy of course.

It would be a good deal to buy a financial service right now. Going cheap on the exchange rate.

But there is fair logic to that. Britain hasn't formally notified it's decision to leave the EU and it's trading block until article 50 has been triggered.

Yup, and yet the EU is deemed "undemocratic" even though one nation, and a tiny one at that, can prevent something coming into effect, and the UK is a model democracy even though two countries opposed something but lost out because England is bigger.

Any trade discussions will start with us in a very bad spot, because if May wants to discuss details, she needs to press the self-destruct button first. And then we all know who's calling the shots.

If you count Gibraltar as a country too you can claim to have won 3-2 rather than just drawing 2-2.

Yep.

It's an ejection seat and nothing good comes of pressing that button unless things are already in the sh*t.

At the end of the day, the gov't is the banking industry's personal biatch and will do everything to please the City. It's been that way for ages and nothing looks set to change that.

Since the EU will rightly strip London of its 'EU financial hub' status and move all related jobs and branches to the continent if our newbie negotiators even mumble anything about not respecting the Four Freedoms, we look set to end up alongside Norway in the EEA instead.

"If you want to run Europe, you must be in Europe. If you want to be run by Europe, feel free to join Norway in the European Economic Area," Nikolai Astrup, a Norwegian Conservative MP, told the UK’s Confederation of British Industry in 2013.

So instead of being on the bridge and guiding this great ship our politicians will be relegated to a role in which their opinions will not be necessary as they will only be listening to instructions. Looking at the clowns running our country I think this might indeed be the best solution. :)

I heard today the Government is going to start selling off the banks it owns to pay for Brexit.
