I would certainly tell any family members who believe that hard brexit is going to happen to absolutely move all cash assets in GBP to a safe(r) currency.

Of course the risk is that the gov't will wake up one day with a logical mindset and push for a second referendum instead of triggering article 50. Or alleviate investment fears by fully proceeding with brexit but only by changing Britain's status to an EEA member instead.

But back to your original question, if you think article 50 will be called upon in the first quarter of next year, and that we will be heading for hard brexit, then personally I would absolutely dump all GBP and go for USD or another safer currency instead.

You've seen what a non-binding referendum can do, and how the markets react every time the gov't utters something silly. Now imagine them announcing hard brexit...

The bulk of RR's manufacturing is still in the UK

Rolls-Royce employs over 54,000 people in more than 50 countries, how many of these are in the UK?

Well there it is folks. For everyone who has a house in the UK. Astera recommends sell and get your pounds out.

It might have to be another safe currency. Donald Trump is likely to become president and global sentiment towards DT is not great.

A month ago, I didn't think this was very likely, but today...

They said that about Brexit too.

I reckon there's going to be a tonne of men, especially white men, who will tell their wives one thing and vote another.

With Trump in the Whitehouse, I would say that brexit will be the least of our concerns ;)

Did you ever see 'These Final Hours'? We were last to go then as well - and it was all filmed in Perth.

The suggestion was about moving cash assets which you interpret as sell your house to suit your agenda.

Trump's secret server used to communicate between his Trump HO and a Russian bank with links to the Kremlin which is being investigated by the FBI (but for some reason not revealed by the FBI director like the emails which might be a problem) will be brought up before the election so don't count chickens. Trump's links to the Kremlin could be the biggest thing since Watergate.

You are right. I did miss he specifically said cash assets. There you go. I can admit a miss. You just go quiet when found out.

So why not other assets then? One would assume if the pound hits the floor, then the UK is going to be in a bad economic way. What about those those nasty foreign property investors? Are they going to get out too? Or are they going to be buying cheap hoping it will grow in 10 years? Perhaps that's a good pound buy too for 10 years time?

You armchair financial advisors are confusing.
