Amazulu is subtly pointing out that SA are #1 test nation and the Ashes is the runners-up prize but as India are 2 and England 3 (Australia 4) then a series between India and England is the runners-up prize. Get it?

But the number 1 test event is an Ashes series, no other test event gets close and great Ashes performances will be remembered for generations. Nobody will remember or care who the number1 test team was for x amount of months in 2013.

Well you could argue India vs Pakistan is now the biggest series in many ways whilst the Ashes is the oldest rivalry but let the Saffer make the point his team are #1. India is the hotbed of world cricket without a shadow of doubt.

...not in Test cricket it ain't. India's attendances for test matches over the last 5 years have been terrible
