Mull of Sodding Kintyre . Right up there with the Sodding Frog Chrous eh?

But seriously, songs like Penny Lane, Eleanor Rigby, Strawberry Fields. They still really work for me, and I've heard them 1000's of times.

Oh I remember one that gave me nightmares as a kid, 'Fool on the hill'. It makes me shiver now even thinking of it. Even Eleanor Rigby freaked me out, apparently she keeps her face in a jar by the door. This was 30 years before Silence of the Lambs

Imagine is crap, I hate it. So hypocritical considering how he lived, totally colours it for me.

who cares about hypocrisy though? Its an ideal, a wish - most songs do not represent the artist's true persona.

I think it would be in my top 50 songs. I am a bit of an idealist too however my life definately doesnt represent that

I do, big time. Hate it in all walks of life and as I said, it totally colours how I view the song. Just think it totally simplistic and dislike the actual tune, bit too durge like for me. Vive la difference!

It matters not. Suffice to say, we have bands like Oasis cloning their work 30 years after they split. They changed everything.

Love John Lennon, not so much as a singer, but lyrically he was a legend. Loved his 'Some time in New York City' album

Hey Jude, I am the Walrus and Eleanor Rigby are my favourite Beatles tunes.

Interestingly, those 3 songs that you quote were actually almost exclusively written by McCartney and not Lennon
