There's nothing I miss about my time in the UK other than the better and more affordable Broadband.
The best thing to come out of the UK in recent times is the show Top Gear.

The same could be said for London, which according to you is a cesspit.

Well there's nothing I'll miss about OZ except for the flies, the oppressive heat, the parochialism, the shallowness, the AFL worship, oh and the doctrine "Australia best country on earth. Australians best people on earth, WA best place in OZ to live, Western Australians best Aussies on earth, etc etc etc ad nauseum, oh and the never ending sheep/ram jokes or "fush n chups' comments...my you Aussies are pioneers in thinking and social commentary.

Re: Aussie newsreaders 'World Record!'
Why do people put themselves through such misery when they obviously feel sooooo much affection for their homeland. Life is to short to waste it rotting away in a country you have no regard for. People can easily sense your negativity - no wonder they're not interested in friendship.
Buggered if I would ever move to NZ or the like, as I know the low salaries, cold weather, backward attitudes, no culture & tall poppy syndrome etc would annoy the hell out of me.
The only good things to come out of NZ in recent times are their rugby team and kiwi fruit.
Nup, Australia is for me. Best damn country in the world I say!
Oh gee look at the time, nearly beer o'clock again.

You can't be in the pub, at the supermarket, exploring the countryside and socialising ALL the time - you need the TV for that spare 10 minutes or so...

It's just nice to have a choice. TV here is crap and there can't really be anyone here that can defend it, denver excepted. In this land of plenty today there is plenty of heat, it's 34 but that's not the reason I cant go outside today or yesterday. It's smoke!! There are at least 3 fires within a 10k radius of me at the moment and I feel like a smoked kipper if I go out today. Just a shame the TV is crap then I wouldn't need to come on here.

I've never watched a game of AFL in my life. (Rugby league. Rugby Union and cricket fan here).
Yes, Australia is the best country in the world. Never said the people are though, although they do rate highly IMO. Believe it or not, I do rate the kiwis highly as well. The friendliest people in the world I have come across are Fijians - alot could be learnt from these people.
Never been to WA - so wouldn't know if it's the best or not. I have heard from friends that the people there are awesome though.

Re: Aussie newsreaders 'World Record!'
They can travel abroad.
The only problem is that when cheap travel options arise - e.g. opening up of the Pacific route to Singapore Airlines, Valuair flying in and out of Perth, - the government or Qantas (with the support of government) blocks it or stops it.
It's too easy to say Australia is too big, has low population density, too remote. I would have sympathy for this argument if there was free competition which actually helped Australian consumers (not Qantas employees under some misguided notion of being un-Australian if we don't help them). As it stands, defenders of the faith blame the physical and demographic aspects of Australia and rarely examine the protectionist policies of the government.
People need to remember that Europe and the UK used to be like Australia - until things were liberated a bit.

Yet another shining example of Australian intelligence I see. FYI I came to this country with an open mind. It's taken me several years of living here to form my negative opinion of the place (Inspired by the arrogant wankers who seem to be prevalent).
Actually as someone once put it..."Australia would be half okay...if it wasn't for all the Australians that live there"

Wow - so all these folks are paying good money for a magazine so they can watch TV for 10 minutes! If it's that good, surely they'd just switch on, flick to a random channel, and enjoy
