It’s funny, I have seen two type of people make a success of life.

Type A makes meticulous plans, leaves nothing to chance, takes no risks, always has a backup, follows the rules and slowly achieves their goals in life.

Type B crashes through life, taking enormous risks, has no idea what will happen tomorrow, has no real plan, certainly no backup plan, bends rules and wants everything today.

A lot of successful people are Type Bs.

Pick which one the OP is.

That's bollocks. Simply because the economy is not what it was in the past twenty years. Anyone could of been a successful but not any more and only the real talent will long term become wealthy.

Anyone could of gone to London 5 years ago and made a killing. Now you go to London and make 5 pounds an hour.

As for the apprentice sparky which is a highly desierable apprenticeship and nothing like spade trowel or whatever it requires a company to take you on and expense to the Australian people. I don't have much sympothy for something who is essentially trying to steal an apprenticeship from a longterm tax paying citizen. There are reasons why he hasn't landed an apprenticeship and that is one of them. Personally anyone who does this in my opinion is scum. I think their is a few people on this forum who would agree with that it's a massive abuse of Australia's services.

It’s a numbers game Weebie.

The type A are normally bright and risk averse. There aren’t many of them who actually try. Most look at the risks and think a normal life looks more attractive.

The type Bs are just like soldiers getting out of the trenches at the Somme. Some of them will survive.

Chinese businessmen used to fit into type B perfectly. They would arrive in Australia in the 1980s, open a business, go bankrupt, burn the place down (Chinese stocktake), make an insurance claim, start again under a different name, go bust again, move to another city, start a business in the wife’s name. Sooner or later some of them got it right and suddenly they were businessman of the year.

If you shipped 500,000 australians to London a handful would end up millionaires. Even today.

I think there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that can count in binary and those that can't

Type A are the ones you still hear about.

Type B ones you still hear about are the ones who fluked it. The rest you never hear about, because they crashed and burned.

So for every type B James Dyson there is a million Clive Sinclairs and Gerald Ratners.

Out of interest Dave, how did you convert from student visa spouse to a bridging visa with unrestricted hours?

Is it easier to get sponsored as a hairdresser in regional Qld / regional Australia?

Serious question.

Wow what a fantastic contributer you are to Australia. You haven't recieved your electrical apprenticeship for many reasons.

Your completely clueless about the trade,

"a highly desirable apprenticeship" perhaps in the 70`s and 80`s not anymore

you know what happens if you place an advert for an apprentice ( applies both here and in the Uk ) nothing, nobody’s interested the odd fookwit that does turn up has been sent by his dad or the social and are unemployable

Unfortunautly for about 20yrs now school leavers have just not been interested in getting into any trade - it’s too hard for the little darlings they want full money for minimum effort - easier to sit behind a desk and tap away at a PC -

regards Steve

Out of curiosity... how is it then that these people charge 400 bucks a day labour ? Per person that is.

http://www.vicvolts.com.au/

Thats one of the cheap ones that would actually quote their rates. Cheapest I can get Cash in hand is 35 bucks per hour.

I was responding to this line and this line only...

"a highly desirable apprenticeship" perhaps in the 70`s and 80`s not anymore

I realise 400 bucks a day isnt exactly mind blowing wages, but it's not bad and I would have felt worth chasing by any apprentice ? Add the out of hour cash jobs in the evenings and on the weekends and it starts to become fairly lucrative.

Do contractors charge 400 bucks a day up there, or are these Melbourne rates ?
