We are just about to go onto a bridging visa that will follow onto a skilled graduate visa there is a wait of about 14 months to get the graduate visa and then 18 months on that. In that time my partner has to get a job as a hairdresser work for a year then we can get PR if we go regional it will also make it easier. I have been looking at maybe perth what is the job situation over there at the mo. or maybe a town outside of perth??? i have 2 kids so it would have to be somewhere where we can do stuff with them one is 3 and one is 5 weeks old thanks

Hi it would be amazing if you could im in electrical but the problem is im not allowed to litterally only australians can do an apprenticeshipthat is the law. if i could get a job as a third year and just work as a third year i think that would be ok but i woulnt be allowed to progress so know one wants me.
thankyou
thankyou
You are wrong about 'the law' saying that only Australians can take apprenticeships. You do have to have PR, but that is all.
My husband began his plumbing apprenticeship in Vic when he was 38 and had had PR about 9 months.

People shouldn't be allowed to do apprenticeships unless they are PR at the very least IMO.
THe OP is not getting an apprenticeship and rightfully so. Those spots should be reserved for locals just like Australians shouldn't be taking apprence positions in the UK.

Look, the guy's obviously distraught and struggling. If you really want to start a fight just go out into the street and punch someone.

If I went to the UK and somehow secured an apprenticeship it would be front page tabloid fodder.
People are struggling in many places atm. Just because you're struggling doesn't mean you should fly to Australia and grab an apprenticeship as a non tax payer you don't deserve IMHO.

Hi David, I remember you first posting and then moving here - your partner posted on here too, I think, and you had a baby? (Oh hell I've just read further down, you have another now!)
Sorry to hear it's not going great for you. IIRC, it was always going to be a risky move, but at least you had the balls to go for it. Hope you manage to find something soon.
Weebie, wind yer neck in.

Apprenticeships costs tax dollars and there are reasons why someone who has just come into the country would struggle to obtain an apprenticeship. Why should anyone other than Australians or PR's who've committed to the country be allowed to get one? obviously as someone has pointed out they can't which is a good thing.
It's good that employers seem to be doing the right thing.

When lots of things go wrong it's easy for life in a country to appear to be past it's sell by date. I thought the OP was going to complain about the country - it seems that the circumstances are trying more than anything else.
Babies, jobs, apprentices...you name it..

Just because you pay money into the economy doesn't mean you deserve an apprenticeship just the same an Aussie rocking up to London and getting an apprenticeship it's not right. Too many people think that they deserve everything because there "pumping" money into the economy Hello??? it's the only reason many people are able to come here.
I do really wish you the very best of luck though.
As for the people abusing me. It's clear that you are retarded clowns with every trained apprentice costing taxpayers costing tens of thousands of dollars each apprentice...get a grip.

About the same then and nothing to moan about.
Good luck with sorting your apprenticeship out, although I think they are only open to PRs and Australian citizens.
