Nope, I was on the one with no monthly fee and 8c for a call to the UK, filled in my details and sent it and it came up with that message.

I pay $49 a month with TPG naked and that includes VOIP. And also the $15 mobile plan.

The T-Box looks ok but I think you are better off spending the money on a Media center PC.

you may have to buy an ATA Adapter which plugs into your modem/router, and then you can plug your phone into the ATA box and use the phone like normal. These boxes are about 60-80$

MyNetFone has a plan (like pennytel) for 5$/moth for 6mths that gives you one of these boxes - I signed up for that just to see what it was like. It includes calls etc for that 5 bucks.

The aTA is locked to the provider in this case. But if you buy one for 80$ they are not locked.

Beware - I bought one off ebay from china and had 3 return/swap/etc and they were all broken (!). That was 40$ or something

https://www.mynetfone.com.au/whirlpool/Hot-Deals

I dunno if pennytel do similar - check their website. hope this helps.

You can also get a new router - but thats >100$+ and the cost-effectiveness disappears.

Yes I would start with Ani call back if I were you.... It's a little bit inconvenient... bit like a phone card, You dial an access number from your home phone and then you get a call back and then you dial the number. There is no cost for the initial call as you get an engaged signal. No need to buy an adapter that way.

Is the phone card like the ones you get for calling abroad, where you dial an access code, enter a pin number and then the international number?

Where do I get one of those from and can I choose the value?

That account number you get from Pennytel is your phone card. No pin number required just dial from any phone key in your account number then you dial the number you require.... it's been a long while since I've used that method, you may have to register numbers now.

You have to make sure your account number has credit at all times... I think it's 10 dollar payment minimum, there is no time limit on the credit. I think you can run your credit down to zero, but you generally want to make sure you have it set up to debit your bank account or your credit card @ 2 dollars so that you dont get cut off during a long call.

I would advise the ANI service from your home phone to start off with then you dont have to pay for any extra equipment.... or you can use a mobile... here are the Details.

By taking advantage of PennyTel's local access numbers, you can now make cheap phone calls from anywhere, at any time, using any device and you don't even need the internet!

ANI (Automatic Number Identification) Callback
Designed for those who can call certain numbers for free. Register with us the mobile number that you will be making calls with. When you want to make a call, simply call PennyTel's ANI access number. Our system will drop your call, then immediately call you back prompting you to enter the number you want to reach.

SmartDial
Especially for those who just want to make cheap calls on a standard phone plan, SmartDial is EASY to use. Tell us the numbers you want to call and we'll assign each of these with a special SmartDial number. Save these numbers for each contact, then when you want to call them simply dial the SmartDial number and start enjoying amazing call rates.

Local Operator (Shared Access Numbers)

Made for your friends and family who want to call you from around the world at a very low cost. Just give your PennyTel number to those who want to call you. They simply dial the local access number, then your PennyTel number and you will be connected. Calls within the PennyTel network are charged as a local call.

SMS Callback
This method is best for those who are able to send SMS for free. To register: Using the mobile number you make calls with, SMS the following to +61447444555,

REGISTER
myusername (your PennyTel login)
mypassword (your PennyTel password)

When you want to make a call, SMS the following to +61447444555,

CALL
destination number (the number you want to call, in international format)

Well I changed from Optus to Telstra, got the router two days ago and set it all set up yesterday, got the phone a few weeks ago and I cannot believe how fast my internet is - never been so fast.

And for once, my Dad has not had any trouble getting through. Dare I say it, pretty impressed.

Just waiting for my T box to arrive now.

It was about 10 mins for a movie before so should be down to 8 or 9 now I guess.

200gig to play with too ... love it! ...

I'm supposed to be on the 200g bundle but after 5 weeks of phone calls and promises from HELSTRA to change my plan I'm still stuck with my 25g which has only lasted 4 days! If I had a choice I'd tell telstra to shove their bundle where the sun don't shine.

im only on the 25g bundle as I have never gone over 5g anyway so more seems a waste, I dont need the free calls as I use my mobile but I am very excited about the T box and the YouTube thing - does Youtube count as your download limit on the T box?

I think there are movies on demand as well.
