When I can afford it I shall get the phone line put in to the living room and perhaps one for my desktop. But all in all, impressed so far.

You know IF it's possible to hide this lil piece of speaker wire, or better still some proper stuff (5mm thick) preferrably, then you've only gotta get one of these:

Plug in the wall, one phone in one, and long cable into the other. Run it to where you want your modem / T-Box and away you go! ...
Or if you don't need the phone where the wall plate is then just run the cable from there to where you want it ... too easy! ...
As I say speaker wire does work, but would be best to use something that's made for it.
I'd pop round and do it for you Sam, but the cab fare will kill me ...

Is your phone plugged into a socket in the wall direct - or is it plugged in via what is known as a 'filter' - is there a white dangly box your phone cable plugs into near the wall, or is your phone cable plugged directly into the wall.

I have a dangly box splitter socket that plugs into the phone socket in the wall.

Yours could be duff - they are about 30$ at BigW /Woolworths/Dick Smith for new ones. You could try it at a mates house or try a mates one at your house.

every phone plugged in the house needs one - basically anything connected to that phone line needs to go through one of those splitters.
