Hi Sammie, does it cost much to send furniture over from Bali to Australia?
Balinese furniture is lovely.....how strict are custom's regarding stuff sent that way rather than UK - OZ ?
My partner Andy has been to Bali and really liked it there - he spent longer than he'd originally planned to there because he was so relaxed!
He would like to go again with me and the children, and as i've never been am open to the suggestion

He would like to go again with me and the children, and as i've never been am open to the suggestion You really have to have an agent to see these things through if your doing it yourself , eg. its wood, when I bring items back from Cambodia/Laos, Thailand I have stood in many a quarantine Q so bringing home a sofa hahaha would be interesting. The shop in Karratha does all all the importing , customs, quarantine etc and actually the prices are very reasonable and last for life. I know there are places in Tasmania and the mainland that you can get Bali furniture maybe slightly more expensive but certinly worth it. Cathy it is beautiful there thats for sure, but then I am an asian freak, (I have a Korean son) and I am sure your suitcases will be full when you embark on those sort of trips. Regarding your comment on "customs" yes understandably they are very strict, but they are sensible with it, they know what disease they are looking for, I declare all wood to be on the safe side and havent had a problem yet.
How did your viewing go Cathy?
It's so hot here tonight, difficult to sleep, just had another shower and drinking a juice to cool down, soon time for work. speak later

Thanks for that. Yes its quite a relief. Its not the amount we were after but we have to move on. Only hope it does not fall through. We started to look at house now as before there was just no point. But things in the UK are really dire and getting worse. So take the money and run i guess. I talked my my dad the other day and tells me its getting worse with the economy and crime. So next plan is to get my dad out too if at all possible.

Hi Sunshinesammie and welcome to the thread. We moved to Tassie for a short while but came back to the UK after a short time last April. Desperate to get back to Tassie and hope to be back by the end of the year. x

I agree immigrants nowadays have it so much easier than people did years ago with all the modern technology available to keep in touch with people.
People were much braver back then!
So your container took 3 months - that was quite a while. I remember when we made enquiries last year they said between 10-12 weeks but i think most other people we know that have shipped stuff did take less than that amount of time. Guess it depends on each journey!

Oh dear Cathy sorry to hear that, I think you just need to make a decision and stick to it, you've missed out so much by hesitating.
Decide between you and Andy how low you are willing to sell for and don't go below that price and stick to your decision. It may take a little longer to sell but at least you have made a strong decision that you are both willing to stick to. I really hope your buyer is just around the corner so that you can move on with your life. I have to say I don't envy your position, I think I would rather have twins than be in your situation!! lol (I'm sure I won't be saying that when they have me up every 3 hours for a feed!) he he

I am doing lessons via Dorset Council $20 for 4 lessons here at Bridport or in Scottsdale!! its on a friday morning 9.30 till 11.30 yes Gary will be delighted to give you a game when I am over, but I am crap, but if your want a laugh then I am your woman hehehehe....

He would like to go again with me and the children, and as i've never been am open to the suggestion Yes had a wonderful time at the Taste of Huon, ate loads and the weather turned out really nice in the end as the day started off cold and grey. Also all piled back to Donna's for a lovely barbie (thank you Donna, we had a wonderful time!) I could hardly sit in the car to come home my tummy was so stuffed!!

yes possum, when I stand outside the house in Karratha, it is indeed wonderful.

Hi I just noticed in Launceston think its called Jenerick or something? also a shop called Old Empire and what looks like nice stuff on closer inspection is really just knocked together, actually maybe its from Thailand not Bali? my OH is a joiner so i've learnt what to look for or its not allowed in the house
