My partner Andy has been to Bali and really liked it there - he spent longer than he'd originally planned to there because he was so relaxed! He would like to go again with me and the children, and as i've never been am open to the suggestion
Hi there Cathy,
You really have to have an agent to see these things through if your doing it yourself , eg. its wood, when I bring items back from Cambodia/Laos, Thailand I have stood in many a quarantine Q so bringing home a sofa hahaha would be interesting. The shop in Karratha does all all the importing , customs, quarantine etc and actually the prices are very reasonable and last for life. I know there are places in Tasmania and the mainland that you can get Bali furniture maybe slightly more expensive but certinly worth it. Cathy it is beautiful there thats for sure, but then I am an asian freak, (I have a Korean son) and I am sure your suitcases will be full when you embark on those sort of trips. Regarding your comment on "customs" yes understandably they are very strict, but they are sensible with it, they know what disease they are looking for, I declare all wood to be on the safe side and havent had a problem yet.
How did your viewing go Cathy?
It's so hot here tonight, difficult to sleep, just had another shower and drinking a juice to cool down, soon time for work. speak later

I did forget to say that Tasmania has the most beautiful woods though, and I have found some beautiful tables and chairs made with local woods in Tasmania, Sassafrass, Huon Pines, Blackwood etc which are beautiful and Tasmania has some wonderful renowned furniture and cabinet making universities and colleges. Picked up a Myrtle table for $30 which is my pride and joy, you will have such fun rummaging around hehehe x

I talked my my dad the other day and tells me its getting worse with the economy and crime. So next plan is to get my dad out too if at all possible.
Congrats Lenmil so pleased that you can now get on with making your life in Tassie as a family at long last. Good luck with it all, will keep all crossed for a speedy completion. x

People were much braver back then!

So your container took 3 months - that was quite a while. I remember when we made enquiries last year they said between 10-12 weeks but i think most other people we know that have shipped stuff did take less than that amount of time. Guess it depends on each journey!

Oh Cathy what a bummer about the bloke messing you around. At least now you know what you want and hopefully with the recent percentage drop again the market will get moving. At least you still have the rental option as that side is booming still, you would rent in Tassie anyways for a while till you know what area you want to be in. Will keep all crossed that you get some viewers this week. x

It may take a little longer to sell but at least you have made a strong decision that you are both willing to stick to. I really hope your buyer is just around the corner so that you can move on with your life. I have to say I don't envy your position, I think I would rather have twins than be in your situation!! lol (I'm sure I won't be saying that when they have me up every 3 hours for a feed!) he he
he he he doing that at the mo and I only have one to feed!!! lol. Its amazing how quickly you forget what a full nights sleep is like!! OMG cant believe you are half way through already. Time flys. Max was 9 weeks old yesterday!!!!! Did you go to the Taste of Huon?

yes possum, when I stand outside the house in Karratha, it is indeed wonderful.
I have never looked for Balinese furniture in Tasmania, so have no idea, but the stuff that comes here is very reasonable and really beautiful. We have a wedding in Bali in 2 weeks so I will find out costs etc then from respected dealers.

hey the bed we had in the hotel in Ubud, beautiful ornately carved 4 poster with all the nets

There is a shop in Invermay near some friends of ours which stocks Balinese, but I wouldnt entertain it, expensive crates hehehe... and your OH is correct, it would have to be the genuine article for him. Quite honestly Possum I love the furniture that comes into Broome/Karratha way, but maybe there is a supplier in Tasmania thats want to tempt us lol. My husband's company does the removals for us over east, and thats my excuse to OH for buying now hehehe.... Yes Possum its a traditional wedding one of my collegues is marrying a Balinese so I am excited to go. Your 4 poster sounded lovely, if my bedrooms were mansion sized I would love one hahaha I will forget about the cost as well hahaha
