The guy is on holiday in Brasil at the moment!
But the agent spoke to him and he's going to ring him when he returns friday week... he remembered our property which is good sign seeing as he put in so many other offers. So much for bold moves eh? In the meantime we've instructed the agent to drop another £5000 off of our asking price. Be interesting to see if that generates any further interest on the place.
OMG Cathy you've been through it this week hun havent you. Like you say some things happen for a reason. Will keep all crossed that he will offer the same as before, at least that means no chain so should be quick. Chin up about your job, my mates OH has just been sent to India for 8 weeks (missing his little girls birthday, easter holidays and easter) to train up a team in India that have taken over their claims work!!!! He is getting no more money for it either, just hope he has a job to come back too. Economy is really crap over here at mo aint it!!

Hi Corinne, your friend's situation with her OH sounds very similar to what some of our guys do. He might work for the same company as me!
Work hasn't been too bad today, but it'll be next week that all the problems will start
Got our fingerscrossed about that guy still being interested - just going to be torture now waiting till the end of next week to find out! Going to Clacton friday for a couple of days this weekend to escape Romford!
How are your plans going for your move over to Tas in the summer? do you know roughly when you'll be heading over again?
Cathy

Hi Possums
Had a great weekend away thanks. Did us good to get out and about for a couple of days - the weather was pretty good as well over here - just started to get colder again today...but fri & sat it was pretty mild.
Kids enjoyed playing on the beach and going to the zoo - and i enjoyed the fish&chips (i even had mushy pea's with mine - i know you'll be jealous about that!
)
Think we may have done too much thinking though - came home deciding not to accept that guys offer this week, but then already having been home a few hours - i've told Andy to holdfire on ringing the agent and give me another day or two to think!
Not sure if i'm thinking too much about things
or whether we need to wait a bit longer & try and get nearer to our asking price
As you can see I'm not enjoying this house-selling malarkey
Anyway, I hope you had a nice weekend - what's the weather been like over there? Were you out and about at all ?

Hi Cathy
Good to hear you had a good weekend but sorry that you're still very undecided as to what to do next - it's very hard because you just don't know if there is a better offer around the corner or not.
As you know we took a big drop on our house when we sold and if we had it on the market before that we probably would have got the asking price and more but we decided that we felt our lives were on hold ever since we started the emigration process and we needed to get on with it when we had the chance. For us taking the lower offer was probably a good thing as the market continued to go downhill for some time.
But I do know how hard it is to make these decisions, maybe wait and see if the estate agent has an answer for you in the next couple of days and then take it from there.

Hi Sam, thanks for your message.
I dont know what's going on with my mind - i do want to emigrate, i know if we dont we'd always regret it, i guess i'm letting the fear of the unknown get to me..
and the fear of leaving behind a fairly comfortable lifestyle for one that i know will be harder in some respects... it's hard knowing whether you're trying to do the right thing by your kids - or whether it's your own fears, seeing as kids adapt to any situation given time...
I think you're right - need to see what that guy says when he gets back from holiday later this week....and i guess take it from there...

hi cathy, yes it could quite well be the same company!!! Glad to hear you had a good weekend away, but sorry to hear your minds a bit scrambled! know how you feel about the decision making lark, as talking round in circles was all Mark and I done and are still doing. Not sure yet when we will get back to Tas as havnt really made any decisions as was waiting for Max's arrival. We both said at weekend that we have got to start sorting things out now though so we are both thinking hard about things this week. Keeping all crossed for a good response for your house at the end of the week.

Hi
that's the good thing about this site, i know there's other people that either feel the same way now - or have been there previously!
Had an awful afternoon/evening in work again today....the gentleman i'm training arrived in the office today...
and the reality of what it means finally hit me. I actually sent my boss an Email before leaving tonight asking to reduce my hours from 21 down to 14. Whether they'll say yes or no i dont know, but my email was worded in such a way to let them know that if the answer is no it wont be long before it's my notice that's given in! Just so annoying i have to work 8 weeks notice if it comes to that! So the way we stand at the moment this evening - you'll be pleased to know that it looks like we will be trying to sell to that guy (hope he's still interested when he gets back from his hols!
)... Will keep you posted!
Hope you manage to decide what you're going to do as well.....without the same trauma! x

Hi and thanks
You are right, they do say there's a reason for things happening!
Work wasn't too bad today - and at least my manager said to me that he'd be having a chat with me once he's discussed my request with more senior management...so fingerscrossed i'll get to reduce my hours for whatever time we have left here...Hope the weather isn't going to be too bad for all you guys. Going to have a look on the internet in a minute to see what's been written about it...
Andy said the whales were mentioned in The Sun newspaper today. Glad they managed to save some this time...
Well done on passing your first aid course

We have a few firstaiders at work and i know they're forever going on update courses...some have been trained recently to use defibrilators as well..
I think first aid is such a great thing to have knowledge of - i think kids aren't taught enough about it at school...There's a new lot of adverts on the TV over here at the moment about recognising when someone might have had a stroke. Very good advert - it shows a fire starting in this guy and ladies head - and then what happens to them....and tells people the signs to look for. I think ads like that are so good, its a shame there's not more of them about other things...
So are you going to the body & soul expo in Launceston? i see you could take your drum if you do

yeah going to the expo its really good, lots of free workshops etc my kind of stuff I've thought about taking my drum, the guy doing that is who runs the drum workshops

well its been pretty windy but nothing too bad, I've had a bit of a battle with a bird net we've got over the grapes
bloody thing its about 20 metres long .... it is currently peeing it down though! cant complain we are on water restrictions here!I found my old first aid cert.. 1994 lol apparently the heimlich maneuver is banned in Australia as are the use of tourniquets. compressions have gone up to 30 from 15 so some big differences! even the recovery position is done differently. I actually found it really interesting, especially the snake, insect bite stuff. and at a special cost of $50 for the course bargain!
highly recommend it to anyone, especially if living remotely you just never know!

Vikky is going to the Expo not sure what day, I'm working on the weekend so I can't get to it, but the lady who is running it is awesome, Had a massage from her the other month and I felt amazing after it. Just not had time to get back to visit her.
Last weekend we went down to Bothwell there was a spinning event(Hand spun wool) It was really nice, Hollie had her first camping trip. I found a distillery too.
We have had a rough day with the wind but now it looks really nice.

I think i'd need to go on a course like that about the snake/insect stuff especially as i wouldnt have a clue what to do - i've watched too many crocodile dundee films - i'd be trying to suck out the poison

Hope you managed to sort out your bird net!

Hi Possums, sounds like the course you went on was very good then if you learnt about snake / insect bites as well as the normal kind of first aid techniques... Who was the course organised by? was it some kind of organisation (ie, the Oz equiv of St Johns Ambulance over here?)
