Thank you
well I dabble in allsorts really, this one was a watercolour its one I did in the UK. I started going to an art class a few months ago but the tutor moved back to WA. I was gutted and havent really done much since but I thought I'd have a go at putting a couple in the local gallery and low and behold!!
apparently someone has bought it for their mum who is in a local nursing home, the gallery owner let him take it up to her to see if she liked it and she did .. isnt that nice

It's lovely when people appreciate your work. I haven't painted for years, but do dabble in crafts - mainly glass staining, although i haven't done any since having my youngest. I have given pieces to friends in the past as presents - and one guy liked something i did so much he turned it into a lamp for his dining room. Other friends still have their bits on display in their kitchens... I'm always surprised when i go round there that they have them out (1st time i thought it might be politeness because they knew i was coming round
), so i really understand how you must feel to know that the buyer took it to his Mum for approval....I know i saw quite a few crafts places in Hobart - are there quite a few scattered around the Island? I would love to get back into my glass staining once we move...i especially like decorating small bottles and wine glasses etc, and would love to be able to sell some in a gift shop etc.
My main ambition though would be to design and create my own stained glass window in a future home....

Possums that's excellent news about your painting makes you feel quite chuffed I expect

Thank you everyone I am chuffed and its given me some inspiration again, that and I have been informed of a new art group starting in March so that'll get me going
well I aint very professional Gary I thought to myself last night I never took a photo of the one I sold
to be honest I dont know how to go about getting prints done, like I say I just painted and painted then the gallery in Scottsdale said she would show a couple.
Do you mean your photos or do you paint too? the thing is Art is in the eye of the beholder what one person thinks is good the other will say its crap.
its just having that confidence why dont you go down to the gallery in Lillydale? the one in Scottdale has photos for sale they also do framing. downside is she takes 30% commission.
Hi Cathy yeah art and craft everywhere you would do well, you could either have a stall on a market or ask if craft shops will display some.
they do like stained glass windows up here I have seen a few houses with them in, but I think they are just manufactured like from Bunnings you get doors with kookaburras on etc
but the real deal along with personal designs would be great, you have to have a go at that (then when your business is up an running, I'll come and work for you LOL)

Well done Possums - that's great about the picture

). Before i met Andy i did a few evening classes myself - one being a jewellry making where we actually did silver work/soldering etc. Some of it was just a bit too fiddley for me though so i'm much better suited to drawing / painting. My daughter is also very good at drawing/crafts & i'd also like to teach her to knit soon - but i'm having trouble working out how to show her to hold the needles as i was taught by my right-handed Mum but both me and my daughter are lefthanded!
I have seen a few houses on realestate.com with stained glass windows...i have loved them since i was a little girl - there's a big old house not far from where we live & it has the most beautiful stained glass windows on the side & beside the front door...
I would definitely ask any shops i saw if they'd display some of my glasswork though, i've seen similar stuff in our local card shops - i have done 18th/21st birthday celebration champagne glasses before, things like that i know would probably sell... oooh, got me all excited now ha ha...

the only thing he's let me have is a Nintendog
