Qantas...hmmmm....

He caused some short term disruption for customers that happened to be travelling last weekend. But in the medium to long term he has brought security to customers as it has removed the risk of months or years of uncertainty. I think his decisions were courageous and decisive. And (according to the reports I have read) most of the workforce did not want months and years of industrial disupte either and most are not even in unions. I cannot even begin to comprehend why you think he "shat on them".

If anyone thinks the disputes will go away they're crazy
He solved nothing. The workers will still want more pay. The unions will still stir the shit to get more pay regardless as to business viability. The company will still move some work abroad where it's less expensive in order to compete on price.
And confidence in the market is as low as it can get. Not many happy customers unless you've got your eyes and ears closed to reality.

We will see what arbitration brings. The umpires decision is final and the unions can be fined to death if they disobey. Arbitration is a risk for both sides. Politics is the biggest threat to Qantas.

Agree. And arbitration should have occured long before the service was closed down. We wait with baited breath mate.

So I received an email from Qantas this morning telling me my flight had been changed, the flight I have booked for MARCH!?!??! So I click on it and their system is down, so I can't even view the changes! I am unamused to say the least and if I could I'd cancel the flight altogether and rebook with someone else! Any suggestions?

Its could be for as small a change as 5 minutes. Schedules usually change very slightly when you book that far ahead cos of the way the winds change, thus the speed of the flight is affected. Nothing they can do about that! I usually book my flights 6-9 months ahead and if I don't get at least one minor change in that time I'm surprised

It'll be fine, just don't fret yourself about it or you'll be a nervous wreck by March! My flight has just been changed by 10 minutes, thats aviation, it happens!! Honestly, airline scheules do change by a few minutes a couple of times a year, its unlikely to be ,ore than that. And at least Qantas tell you when they make the changes - unlike some airlines that leave it till the last minute then tell you they changed one leg of your flight by several hours a few months previously but "forgot" to let you know!

I always get changes to my flights too.
The last time they changed my flights for christmas (booked back in January) I had to look for quite some time before my game of 'spot the difference' with the old schedule actually revealed what had changed.
Dont worry about it. Its almost certainly 5 minutes here or there and will make no significant difference to your journey whatsoever.
