Qantas...hmmmm....
So things aren't looking good for Qantas, I've a flight booked with them in March to return to the UK, could I get a refund because of the current state of affairs for them?!

Re: Quantas...hmmmm....
Hi Jen
I'd be Very surprised if Qantas refund you unless the flight is cancelled, when they are obliged to. They are unlikely to be keen to lose even more money at the moment! On another note, they charge extortionate rates for being over the baggage allowance, as I learned in April when I was charged almost £300 for being about 7 kilos over. Beware! Liv. |

Re: Qantas...hmmmm....
Agree if your ticket would not normally be refundable you are not going to get a refund because of current situation. I would not worry about it too much though, plenty of time until March and the long haul flights will be the last to be grounded anyway.

Re: Qantas...hmmmm....
Agree with your thoughts about not flying Qantas. Why bother when there are airlines without this crap.
My last three flights with Qantas have been delayed or cancelled domestically. Usually they had the decency to let me know in the very early hours of the morning by text message. Last week they asked me to call them. Imagine my joy at 2am when I got that text when fly flight was meant to be at 8am. I was only on hold for 45m... I cancelled my Qantas Credit Card yesterday. I'd rather not earn points with them and will build status with Virgin instead. |
Re: Qantas...hmmmm....
Back to the eighties and nineties. Just about every flight I made in and out of Australia would be disrupted - refuellers, baggage handlers, ATC, engineers - you name it.
:frown: |
Re: Qantas...hmmmm....
And they've just grounded the entire fleet ...
It's one way of making sure you never crash I guess. |
Qantas is grounding all flights.

Re: Qantas is grounding all flights.
Unfortunately the type of militant unionism we are seeing is only going to hurt the company. Their demands for (I think) 5% pay rises a year for 3 years just isn't sustainable. I can see it forcing Qantas to take more services offshore which will just hurt more workers but the unions are too blind to see it.

Re: Qantas...hmmmm....
I would always fly Singapore Airlines anyway and would only use Qantas if I literally had no choice.

Re: Qantas is grounding all flights.
The main cause of conflict is the strategy to move operations to lower cost parts of the group and overseas.
My own opinion is that the unions are living in a different universe and potentially putting more members jobs at risk than what will already be outsourced.

Re: Qantas is grounding all flights.
Exactly, we are really worried about Qantas moving operations overseas so we will ask for a 15% pay rise over 3 years, that will teach them not to mess with us.
