I should have waited a few hours before replying to this, then I would have been replying on a hot summers night.

Well we havn't moved here permanently.... yet, 10 months and counting so far but we have met so many poms who never intened to still be here 8 years on... beware it creeps up on you.
My attitude to the parentals is look, hard as it is going to be this is about finding my own way and giving my kids parents who are interesting and happy in them selves to look up to. Parental support is what is really required. If its a total mistake help me through it (just like you did when you were bringing me up).
When ever they really laid on the emotional blackmail (2 years might not seem much to you youngsters etc..) you need to take a step back and ask who's agenda are they looking at here. Its pretty selfish to hold your kids back just because you might miss them. Its not even a days travel time and costs the same as flying to anywhere else so bite the bullet and help me do this thing.

Thank you for the replys from yesterday - really helpful, seems like alot of people are in the same boat. Spoke to mum again yesterday and told her about this site, she laughed and said she felt for the parents. My husband does not like flying so she said if you do get acceped (which is a long way if we do as we have to put together the TRA stuff - stressfull) you will have to get him on the aeroplane. Explained that he is as keen if not keener than me to go and his parents think that this would be good for us, so some help there. My dad says that he definately will not get on a plane (absolutely petrified) so we will see. I am still working out this site, have not had this computer for long and trying to get back into it as have not used one for about 4 years. Trying to work on the guilt thing at the moment - will get over it soon I hope.

Parent update....
Father got raging drunk again, had another fit about Australia, fell over on the floor, bashed his rib on the wooden arm of the sofa and has a suspected broken rib.
Still planning to go...
haven't spoken to him (want to keep my distance... plus we rarely speak and it's usually me trying to grovel!)
Have had enough on my plate with flu and sprog with flu... but looks like we're coming out of it... feeling more optomistic and less tired out! (Thanyou to the forum nutters in the chatroom the other day - made me laugh me guts out!)
Blimey, what a mad family I have... think I'll be doing my kids a favour going to Aus... unless I turned into Psycho mum meself!
