Re: moving abroad is a marriage test!!!
Yeh thats what we hoped all that time off daughter not at school would be able to get out and see all of the local tourist attractions etc but with the awful weather that we have had here and when its not awful its been too hot, lose lose situation. Hopefully we will soon turn the corner especially when hubby gets a little job only wants something like filling shelves at night/eve. He has sent off loads of resume and registered with local job agency nothing. Oh well enough moaning or will be accused of being whinging pom

You'll be OK. All of a sudden he'll get loads of offers, it always takes a while. Good Luck.

I never knew how much of a strain moving here to Oz would put on my marriage!!! Thank goodness after nearly 2 years, we've tested each other to the limit and have become stronger as a couple. I wouldn't say it's at the "violin stage" but at least it keeps us on our toes!
Anyone else go through this, or was/is it plain sailing?

I'm not a gambling man but if I was I'd bet that the divorce rate is more or less the same in UK/USA/Canada/NZ/OZ and you are likely to split up wherever you are. It's just that the stress of both moving & emigrating (one is bad enough but TOGETHER!) brings troubles up much quicker.

Nothing in particular, I certainly don't have a penchant for Aussie males, it's just been circumstances! On both occasions I was living over here when I met them. I suppose there is a certain allure to someone who comes from a different country than you do, makes life a bit more interesting (and difficult). Or am I just weird?
I was just scanning through the replies and almost chocked on my drink - I thought it read 'its just been circumsicions'!!!
Me and oh are only just discussing going to Oz in a few years - and Im the one that seems the eager one. So Im hoping that when it comes to it - he will still want to go, otherwise that will be a big pressure on the relationship. I can already see this being a big issue - we both need to equally want to go. So time will see!
Then we'll be facing the issue of leaving people behind, the big move so I will be keeping a close eye on the stress levels and will have to just talk it all through as the problems arise.
Fingers crossed anyway!!

Good luck with your plans, hope it works out ok for you both. Just tell him you'd like to try it for xx amount of years and you can come back if it doesn't work out. If one likes it and one doesn't ... well you can cross that bridge when it comes to it.
