Sorry to hear that, but look at it this way - it fastforwarded the problems that would have come about when you'd have been too old and grey to have attracted anyone if you'd have been back home!

We are only at the TRA stage at the moment but already I can see that we are going to be tested to the limit. We have a really strong relationship and so hopefully we will get through this.

Thanks. I don't regret the marriage and I don't regret the divorce either It was 7 years ago - much happier now and have a much better suited partner! (Another Aussie though after I vowed I'd never go there again LOL )

It's not a bad thing really - it just emphasises what was overlooked before, and if you're strong enough, it'll bring you closer. Good luck!

(Maybe all couples should go through it to test the relationship!!)

I agree, we have had more upset and arguments so far during the visa application process and since then etc - when we actually got out to Oz in November to validate our visa's we were fine... But every now and then i have panic attacks as to whether we're going to be doing the right thing - and i hate to admit it but i take it out on the OH as it was his idea to emigrate in the 1st place!
I'm just praying that when we go we do all love the place as i dont want him to feel like i'll be blaming him for any unhappiness any of us feels!
Normally most of our arguments are to do with the actions of relatives that affects us - so the fact that we'll be moving many miles away from all of them will hopefully make our life together a little easier!

Yep, I can't believe how hard it is. My problem is that my husband has nothing in England. He is South African, so is very excited about getting back to the lifestyle that he is used to. I am leaving my family and close friends, so it is a lot harder on me. Hubby does appreciate this and is really trying to help and be there for me - but it is not easy. Well, off on Monday - so we will see!

Actually I am South African but feel more Scottish as I'd lived there for 17 years before coming here.
One good thing about your relationship is that firstly you won't have any family dictating to you!
My OH is Ozzie but when we were in Scotland, we were both in "neutral territory", so no pressures from anywhere!

Your husband will feel an alien even though he's "used to the lifestyle etc". Everything else will be new to both of you, so don't think he's the lucky one.

You'll both be on the same level, which is a good place to start! Good Luck!

Weirdly I am Scottish and my husband is South African! He really wanted to come to Oz like so many of his friends. I hated it, hated the lifestyle....getting to appreciate it one year in!

What's young in hairdressing terms? My OH has been using a no. 1 since the age of 20! (because he had to). He's now only a mere 42.

I don't know what 'young' is...under 40 i'm guessing although i'm not saying 40 is old. But to me, a man with long hair/dreadlocks over 40 looks even older. So No1 is cool

Funny - I find men get better looking as they age with lines/shorter hair whereas us women have to do work! Not fair!
