Sevenseas arrive next Friday to sail my goods away on the ocean and Ive just booked first three weeks accomodation - got a good deal at the Toorak Manor and then The Melbourne Oasis in a twin room (£139 for 7 nights) - hotel accomodation is soooo expensive when your on a budget!!! Im so hoping to secure a long term rental asap.....I start work on the 4th September!!! And have to get daughter in school!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!

Hi Diane

Excellent post and an inspiration to us all
We are just waiting for the visa, had our medicals on Tuesday and just waiting to scan the PCC's once we get a CO.
Like you ebay has been getting alot of stick over the last few weeks.
I see you are from 'up north' - how far north? I am originally from the north east but have been 'down south' now for about 12 years.

So here is the official Melbourne thread. Who's going there? When? Who's been there? For how long? What's good? What's bad? What's indifferent?
The Perthies have their own thread for contacts so I thought we should have a Melbourne one.
I'll kick it off.
I'm aiming to be there by the end of this year. I've never been there despite having been to other parts of Australia. My reason for going to Melbourne is that it's the only place my OH would consider but now I've started researching it I'm feeling very excited.
It never gets a look in on Wanted down under so I even started watching Neighbours to get my fix of it
Who else is going there/ there already?
Hi! we are going in jan (Me OH, george 3) hoping to be around mount eliza/Patterson lakes/ Frankston south. Never been but love the sound of it. just waiting on visa now! hopefully in the next month so we can get our flights and accomm0dation booked! Tracey.x

It's beautiful down that way. I was there this morning at the Peninsula School in Mt Eliza, with parrots flying over, greenery, and then breathtaking views of the sea.

The good thing is that it will always be as good as it is....it's not going anywhere

In January, you'll have the summer heat to contend with, which can be a bit too much when you're used to the UK winter. It sounds funny saying that, but I arrived at the end of Feb and the heat (37C the day I arrived compared to -1C high in the UK that day) knocked me out for over a week....of course there was some jetlag as well.

Be prepared and I'm sure you'll love it

Hi Nick,

United Group are contracted on behalf of Connex to run train services and manage the infrastructure. They effectively do all of the work.
