Hi Dawn

In our expereinces over there it is extremely rare to find anywhere furnished but what I would do is get to garage sales, as when we lived there we had one every year and what we sold was not rubbish plus there seems to be expats returning to the UK from Perth who are selling, so they may want to do an exchange.

Plenty of pound type shops too, lots of bargains. This is what we did on our return to the UK last year, got some real bargains and our house though not furnished with top brands is filled with happiness!!!

No, don't think it's better, and certainly not much.... Drive through all daily (drive through Bechenham and Kenwick to get to work(in Maddington), and go to Gosnells to the postoffice and other stuff.

Want another fact: I DON'T GIVE A STUFF.
I don't care which race does more this, or more this. I'd rather look at the individuals.
What is it helping us knowing that more aboriginals commit petty crimes? Avoid all aboriginals becuase it could be them, if if some/most whatever are perfectly fine? That's called racism imo.

I don't care if 'black' people have more rythym, I listen to music from all races, and don't give a stuff what colour they are!! What is the point of these facts????!!!!!!!
Oh, and becaase they're facts(if they are, I don't even care if they are!), doesn't mean you're not racist! :rolleyes:

The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

That's what you are doing.
'Caucasions' are better than aboriginals because they do less petty crime?
'Blacks' are better musicians and athletes ?
Christians etc are better because they're less insular and treat women with respect?

Geez, this is racism!
You are saying that because of their race, some people have different character and ability, and that some are superior because of that.

Nup, don't go for that, it's way to generalising.

I didn`t say Blacks were better musicians.... you did. So you are a racist then as you have an opinion about which genes are better at a particular field?

I`d generally agree that Africans produce better music though, but it`s all dependant on what type of music you like.

If the burglaries had been committed by skateboarders I would have mentioned that as well. Would that have been prejudice towards Skaters?

You`re so PC Simone. I`m not I`m afraid. I call a spade a spade (and no that isn`t a racist remark). In this area we will have to disagree, though I look forward to all of your other opinions and posts.

Yes, that would've been prejudige towards skateboarders. Who cares if it was skateboarders if it was?

I don't know if I'm 'pc', I don't know what pc is. I just think for myself, and go by the people I know.
I don't feel the need to place/categorise people in 'boxes' 'aboriginals', 'skateboarders', 'muslims', 'christians', 'whites' , 'blacks'.
Some people can be Muslim, black, aboriginal skateboarders. Good for them!

Thing is, why would you call a spade a spade, just call it a shovel!
Call a muslim a person, call an aboriginal a person, etc etc.


I ask again: What do we gain by knowing most petty crimes are committed by aboriginals(if it's true)?

I saw a third generation muslim aboriginal mentioned in the paper today though, the president of the WA Muslim students association. (it was an article about that foreign students get discriminated against quite a lot here in Australia, mainly muslim and asian females).

I was defending myself against your earlier comments and stating a fact.

I may generalise, but that`s the world, that`s life. I then take each individual on face value. I don`t see why you have to get `up in arms` every time someone says something negative (but factual or based on personal experience (or both)) about any particular community.

I lived in South Africa. I know what real racism is.

I hardly think a suburb which is a 10 minute drive from the CBD, a 5 min drive to the nearest freeway, less than 10 mins to another 2 freeways as well as less than 3 min drive from one of perths top tourists attractions is the "nether" regions, but if thats your experience of the suburb I live in then you either have a had a very, very bad experience of it or you didnt get out very much :D

which ever it is I hope you enjoy living in your northern suburb for however much time before your departure to UK.

errrrr, where did you get that fact from ? Purely your own plus friends experiences ?

Given that Aboriginals are less than 2 percent of Australia's population, then they are a very busy and industrious race ;)

I got mugged 2 twice when living in Glasgow, one of which was by a student from a school for the deaf. Does that mean that 50% of muggings in glasgow are committed by deaf people? Of course it doesnt, but if I was to comment purely on my experience then yes it does.

Think you need to widen your fact base just a little bit and look at ALL the information available. Most of the reports in the papers about burglary and petty crime in Perth are about caucasian folks not aborigines. Yes there are some aborigines that commit these type of crimes but there are more "white" peeps. Only natural given the percentages of population ethnicity.

Fair enough. I`m mainly talking from personal and associates experience. Maybe it`s just the area`s I lived in, as Simone said.
