Loads of pictures of me with the kids in it, cards, etc etc... No one handed it in... Very dishonest race the Aussies altho' it's likely a Pom picked it up !!! May have had something to do with the fact there was 600 bucks in there. Speaking to the Brummie police officer on the phone, he informed me the areas to avoid in the Northern Burbs were Craigie and Padbury...LOTS of burglaries - His words. Three Legs  I had totally the opposite experience in Perth. My wife left her purse/wallet in a phone box in Northbridge with money & cards. When an hour later we realised it was missing we went back and checked, it had disappeared. However, when phoning National Australia Bank to cancel the bank card card, we were informed the purse was at the police station. Nothing missing at all. Again, this could happen anywhere and it just depends on who picks it up!!!! |
Re: living in perth
Whereabouts in Brighton do you live MarkO`G?
My wife loves Brighton, so we will go once more before we leave for Perth. |

Three Legs  i think you were unlucky not to get your wallet back but to say all ozzies are dishonest is a bit harsh. i lost my mobile in a taxi one drunken night, but some sweet girl found it a week later and gave it back as she read my texts pleading for its return. whats to say your wallet still hasnt been found?? |

Ok, we've been here in Perth since Oct 2002. We find it a bit remote and the people here are very insular. The heat towards the end of the summer can also get a bit tiring. On the plus side I'm an IT contractor, it took me 6 weeks to get my first contract & I've never been out of work since. Yes, I'm only earning half what I used to and I'm doing similar kind of work I was doing in the uk 5 years ago. We've got no regrets coming here, but we're not planning to stay much longer, it's not for us. Hope this helps a bit! |

the isolation is what i cant get used to, i feel like im trapped in some prison. also im used to having nights out in the likes of newcastle and middlesbrough, perth is like having a night out in some rural village, and its spread out quite a bit. i know most people on here are past the clubbing stage, but im only 27 and single so its a major factor in my life to go out on the weekend and enjoy myself. work wise..well im a welder so im earning sh*t loads more money here than i was in the u.k because of the national shortage of skilled workers. mind you tho, im working 10 to 20 hours a week more than i did in the u.k beaches are nice and so are the people, i cant complain about that. but perth isnt for me. im going to give it 1 more year until my city apartment is built, then move on to some where more lively. if you like suburbia and a very slow laid back lifestyle then come to perth. Check out a few other places and see if they are more to your liking before you take the big plunge and go back to the UK. You might enjoy Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. Personally I quite likes Adelaide, but for nightlife, Sydney and Melbourne would be the go. |

ahhhhhhhhhh thanks alot Here's a link that may be helpful regarding rents. Remember you pay more for a better area, so bear that in mind! And don't go living in Armadale even if your cousin lives there. The place is full of neanderthal males and their female counterparts, and teenage delinquents.Same is true of many of the south orf the river areas unfortuantely. Apologies to the nice people who sadly live in the area http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin...p&t=ren&cu=MSN |
