The NHS are far too overstretched with general complaints, and they just don`t have the budget/resources to look after the mentally ill properly.

I would really suggest to those people to do some more research. The idea of Canada as a safe peacefull place to raise your family is not really based on the facts.
Yes, you may find places like this in the small towns but that is not where the jobs are. The statistics you hear about the employment possibiliites are primarily bogus statistics. The real Canadian unemploymemnt rate is around 20 percent.
Start your own business?
If you think bureacracy in Britain is severe, just wait till you get here.
Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal...none of these areas are a safer or better place to raise your families in peace and security than you will find in Britain..
But not to rain on your parade. It would be great to have new British ex-pats settling here.
But come for a holiday. Travel around. Spend six months.
Then decide what you wish to do.
And don't get too excited about current announcements about streamling immigration procedures. We likely have a national election coming up here and these intonements are always pretty loud at these times.
Good luck, but, eh, don't jump.
Jolly old Britain sounds pretty good from here.

I'd take things on a forum with a pinch of salt if I were you There is a tendency with some people in the UK to blame the world for their sh*tty life, for their house, for their town etc.
Australia has higher official violence figures than the Uk. you are more likely to be raped in Aus than in the Uk - higher official figures on that one too.
It depends where you come from in Britain or anywhere for that matter - lay down with the dogs and you are more likely to catch fleas. To be honest the rubbish I read here, it's whinge whinge whinge - Uk this, Uk that - yawn, funny I didn't think Uk was the same all over - town to town differs, village to village differs, country to country differs.
Immigrants this , Blair this and that, traffic in my town this and that - all which can be changed . Move town , vote Blair out - "Immigrants " that's really funny!! when some of the Brit's here are not highly skilled, coming out on marriage visa's etc etc , or "skills" such as hairdressing, bricklaying etc etc , hardly a doctor of physics is it? - As for illegal, Brits are on the top of illegal immigrants in Aus lol
Just for a start -there are brothels full of illegal Asian women paying off their fares here in Aus, besides sweat shops here, yes thery do exist in "sunny Aus". lol.
As for politics and taxes lol.
A forum full of people wanting to move (or moved )is not going to be unbiased. The millions of people who do not want to move and quite happy in Britain are not going to be on an emigrating, or an Expat forum.
Take things with a pinch of salt on these forums, and move to Britain if that is what you want, there are lots of beautiful uncrowded places in the UK (I come from one on a beautiful coast), and low crime areas - not all are sad crime ridden estates, built up towns. I for one was always happy with my home back there and I do go back there for holidays , and will be returning there. I never emigrated to escape anything in the first place - life is what you make it, not what anyone else makes it.
cheers

Anyone wanting to enquire about the mental health situation here should put Cornelia Rau into the google news search. They will find very similiar stories to those generated by the NHS.

We stuck UK guests on the OZ exerience bus down through the gold coast to sydney. Seems the gold coast and NSW hinterland is full of british!! illegal immigrants who've overstayed the visa and support themselves with the areas natural resources which grow rather well there, and I dont mean the bananas.

I won't go there now with WHY??? ....... but she did!
I took her to A&E on Sat after advice from my GP (if she ever tried this!!) and to be honest what I got was just sooooooo crap!

BED was a room in a ****** rehab centre 5 mile away (distance was no prob if it was right!!) with ppl waking round off their nut!! .... my partner was sposed to spend a night in his ****** (again sorry for language) room with a bed, a chest of draws, and that wa pretty much it!! ...... no other ppl there, not even a bloody window!!!
When she phoned me and said "get me out of here!" and I see the place, I told the person in charge she is better off here at home with me, even if I have to drink tablespoons of cofee to keep me awake, I'll do it!!
Ok, I've slipped now, been on the booze since fo*k knows when , but i'll NOT sleep till the morn and she wakes!

btw I`m not complaining about life in the UK except for the mental health system.... I hope my earlier post was balanced in the good/bad of both countries.
I can`t get to sleep yet, I`m on nights and I think my boss would kick me in the head if he came in and I was asleep at the helm I`ll be outta here at 7am, and back in tonight at 7pm.

help solve problems
give them more cash
they'll have a better quality of life
a beach/holiday lifestyle
a more outdoorsy way of life (even though most have never set foot in a pair of running trainers)
a larger house
a pool
a larger car (4x4)
better education
fewer immigrants
better health care
less hours at work (?)
work to live (?) not live to work
and it goes on and on and on.
and all of the above I put my hand up to. I freely and happily admit I was one of those..'can't wait to leave.. the UK is useless' people. Planning to go to another country is a great exciting experience and good luck to all thoses doing it! BUT most issues bought up about the UK go for any counrty in the world. Everywhere has it's good and bad points.
I dont often see or hear of anyone leaving the UK for another country 'just for the fun of it, to have an adventure or just to try something new?

I'm leaving the UK so that my husband can go home and spend some quality time with his family, after 7 years in the UK he deserves it. I want to get to know his family better also. We're not all leaving because we hate the UK or wanting an idealistic life elsewhere. People have many different reasons for leaving. Peoples situations are not black and white...there are many shades of grey.
You may not hear some peoples points of view as some of us prefer to remain out of all the petty arguements and just take posts for what they are.....just peoples points of view...some of us are lurkers

Well i am partly going for the expirience, obviously some of the above reasons apply, but just as much of me wants to expirience something totally different without the problems of language barriers etc... so there you have it. Of course everywhere has it's problems, but isn't thats what lifes all about, seeing how other poeple live and then making judgement on what's best for you and your family??
