Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Congrats - the house looks great. In the end yours took about as long as ours did - and we both had a 2 month delay on bricks! I bet you're really looking forward to getting in there now. Enjoy it -...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Hi Tiawamutu - WE ARE IN OUR HOUSE - Sorry for shouting but it feels so good to finally be in there. So from the slab going down in November (and a 2 month delay on bricks) so bricks started second...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

I am so over the whole house build thing. We had our pre handover inspection this week and it was a bit of a nightmare. I am sure if the site supervisor had taken an hour to go through the inside and...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Tiler should be finished by next week. OH went down in the week and took photos - not keen on the tiles we chose - but apparently lots of people say that until the grout is done you don't get a true...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

I'm still interested too! Sounds like you are a bit like me with your enthusiasm - I was all excited then I just got really bored with it. Now it actually looks like a house I'm all excited again!!!

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

It'll start moving now - honestly. Ours is now locked up, cabinets are in, painter and tiler there this week. So fingers crossed it shouldn't be too much longer now. Brickwork began in Feb after 2...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Funny you should say that - as although I sometimes wish I hadn't been down so often as you get frustrated with the progress being made, you do get to see the problems as and when they occur and...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

I knew we shouldn't visit every few days because of the reasons you mentioned but we just couldn't help ourselves. Now it's not so frequent especially with the nights getting darker earlier. I think...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

I sooo feel for you - but if it's any consolation once they finally start the bricks they do seem to move quite quickly. Not sure it's such a good thing you living so close now tho! We live about 10...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Perhaps you can help me in my confusion - we are having e-wire in our new house, and the brochure of the land development states there is underground cabling. The electrician has been in the house...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

I think they like to leave it 7 to 10 days to cure. Ours got a damn good curing as it was 2 months till the bricks were delivered. But, don't worry once the bricks start the process seems to fly by....

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Site manager said that if there are no more delays (which is unlikely - something else is bound to be delayed) - it should take 12 weeks from today - so that makes it mid June, but the slab went down...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Our bricks are finished and the roofer starts tomorrow :-) OH has meeting with site manager at the house this morning. Hope to get a revised time of completion - was supposed to be end of May but we...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Popped up there Saturday morning about 10.30 and there wasn't anyone there then, but they had been there as another wall was up and the mortar was still wet. I know they worked the first Saturday...

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

Visited our house last night - only have a front and couple of internal walls left to go up before we reach plate height - shouldn't think much will happen today in this rain though!

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

No haven't live in Tapping before, but have friends there, and we lived in Kinross. Have taken photos - will try and work out how to attach them.

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build

House plan looks great - it's so exciting isn't it?
We have just started building in Tapping - been here 4 years and bought and sold a couple of times, so felt we knew enough to build now. The slab...
